Budget Car Rental

Made a reservation for a van rental. When I arrived at the St. Charles location. I was told the van wasn't working, and no other trucks were available. Then the owner charged my credit card, and said I was a no show. I will never use that location again.

Unfortunately, I am not permitted to give 0 / 5 stars. We made a reservation for a one-way rental truck with unlimited miles from St Charles. Upon our arrival we were informed they did not have a truck for us, and stated they should have called us to let us know a truck was not available. The employee informed us we could travel to another budget rental facility 20 minutes away to pick up a truck, which we were willing to do, however, it would cost us an additional $50, plus the per mile rate after the first 25 miles. I stated they needed to honor our current reservation price with unlimited mileage. The employee informed me he didnt need to do anything . The employee offered to cancel the reservation from his end, so we wouldnt have to pay a cancellation fee (for a truck they didnt even have for us!). A couple hours later I called the budget rental 800 phone number. The customer service rep stated the $100. cancellation fee is still listed on our bill. The customer service rep stated the cancellation fee should be removed . If it isnt removed, he said I could continue to call back and talk to customer service to request it to be removed. Fortunately, we were able to have an EXCEPTIONAL Penske moving truck rental experience later that morning through a nearby Home Depot (at a price similar to our original budget truck reservation, with unlimited mileage), and our moving crew was willing to accommodate our delay. The inconsideration of the employee at the Saint Charles store in honoring the reservation terms, and the budget company computer system which books a reservation at a location where a truck is not available, is inconceivable to me. We were fortunate we could find another truck so we could complete the move within our time constraints. The budget truck rental company does not appear to care how they may impact the time constraints of a familys moving schedule, inconvenience the people helping with the move, or increase moving costs by not abiding by the terms of a confirmed reservation. This was a disgusting experience.

I was called 4 days before my Active Reservation that they do not have stock, despite having an active reservation for 5+ days. Terrible service, poor management, and unprofessional.
