Avis Car Rental

250$ for 1 day. Not including the 200$ hold. Always rude. Customer service is garbage when you try to call. This location has some of the grumpiest people.

Avis generally is excellent. Never any hidden fees and easy pickup and drop off. I was impressed by the woman who assisted me at Appleton. The gentleman in front of me had left his credit card and she made the effort to go find him. Top notch service.

Rented a full size 12 passenger van from Avis. After spending two visits to the actual site and over an hour each time setting up the rental, they said we could not add additional drivers to the rental until the day of and we would need the additional drivers to show up in person with drivers licenses. (No big deal, we will just have all drivers show up when we pick up the rental). The day came to pick the vehicle up. We had all drivers present with their drivers licenses and already had set up pricing payment and options previously. We were denied additional driver because a husband and wife with credit cards under the same name were required to show separate credit card identification in addition to drivers licenses. We also had to set up all new payment and optional insurance etc, after we had already done so in advance. We ended up having to drive 24 hours one way to vacation with one less driver. Accepting that for what it was, upon getting into the assigned Chevy Express van, we drove it home to load it up for vacation. (The seatbelts were not able to be adjusted at all in the parking lot). Drove it home anyway to try and figure it out there and still couldn't get them to adjust. On the drive home to load up for vacation, the windshield leaked air, made loud whistling, and headliner bounced all over the place. The windshield definitely had a huge leak. Upon arrival at home, still couldnt figure out adjustment height on the belts and had to return the rental while we were supposed to already be on the road out of state. The height adjusters were locked up tight. Avis gave us another chevy express (the Avis employees couldn't get the belts to adjust either, which is a pretty big safety concern). The less than a year old chevy express van (2023) we got to replace it wasn't much better. The van had tons of wind noise and an interior that sounded like a bucket of bolts rattling around, but at least the belts could be adjusted. The vehicle was clearly not maintained at all. The sliding door popped open more than once in the middle of highway driving to be held by the secondary latch, and the paneling in the van rattles over every bump. I've rented multiple passenger vans from other rental company's before and none have ever come even close to being this bad. Halfway through our trip we noticed a stress crack in the windshield (no chip at all) and had to finish our trip with a growing stress crack through the side of the windshield. Again, not sure if all these vehicles were in accidents before they rent them out, but these vehicles are not maintained at all. Would give zero stars if possible. I would highly recommend Les Stumpf Ford of Appleton, or Enterprise.
