Hertz Car Rental - 76th Street East - Uptown between 1st and 2nd Avenue

We picked up a prepaid car rental early Sunday morning for the day. The ladies in the office could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We visit our kids near there often and will not hesitate to use this location again. Great hours compared to other locations in NY.

READ THIS BEFORE RENTING: There is NO guarantee if you rent a car that a car will be there when you arrive. Ive been a loyal customer of Hertz (gold, rented multiple times from this location as well as monthly rentals on vacation) because Ive had positive experiences. However, today, as I approached the rental center, I saw about 10-12 people waiting outside. When I approached the counter, the person at the counter nonchalantly told me that the car I paid for a month ago (with pay now option) would not be available for another 3 hours (and thats a MAYBE. They couldnt guarantee I would have a car in a few hours). And that everyone outside was also waiting for 2-3 hours for a car they had reserved. 3 hours?!?!!! There are a number of issues here: I was not informed, prior to arriving, that there was a delay or issue with inventory (if they had called me and given me a heads up in the morning, I couldve scrambled and found alternate plans). But no call, text or email to let me know only when I arrived to check in did they tell me (and again, I had already paid ahead of time for the car). Additionally they offered no assistance or help they just said no cars here. Nothing we can do. Wait a few hours and see if some get returned. This is horrible customer service I had an event for my child to go to and we missed it completely something we had planned for months. I wouldve been more understanding if they had called ahead of my reservation (in the morning) and worked with me to find an alternate plan. Or, at the time of checkin, work with me to figure out a solution. Instead, the response was no cars. Nothing we can do. It was extremely disappointing. Also, they wouldnt give me a refund told me to find the hertz number and call (which I did, and after a long time being on the phone with an overseas operator, I did get a refund) and that they couldnt help me with anything.

Worst service ever from Hertz. Unhelpful and rude front desk staff, no President club recognition, completely un friendly and unwelcoming service, car reserved not available, car downgraded and delivered dirty with worn out upholstery.

I rented a car from Hertz via Expedia a couple of weeks ago and I finalized my reservation with Chris. He was one of the nicest, sweetest representative Ive ever worked with. Very friendly, professional and informative. When I mentioned I worked for NYS, he told me about a state discount that I knew nothing about. I saved myself hundreds of dollars. I know that many reps wouldnt know or even care to inform a customer about a potential discount.
