My friend needed to rent a car to get to a wedding and had everything reserved. He was refused the rental because he was changing his license from a Wisconsin one to a Missouri one so it was in paper form while he waiting for the plastic on to be mailed to him. He presented he paper Missouri and he old Wisconsin one and was still denied even though he had a legitimate license and was essentially told thats just how it is. Guy did not really seem to care at all.

Unprofessional Staff: A Disgrace to Herz, Madison, and Wisconsin On June 27, 2023, at 6:30 PM, my wife visited Herz at MSN to rent a car, which was pre-paid and reserved in advance. Shockingly, they refused to provide her with the car in an extremely arrogant manner that she had never experienced before. Their basis for refusal was their unfounded belief that her driver's license from the State of New York was expired, despite the information clearly stated on the official NYS DMV website. One of the male staff members even had the audacity to roll his eyes at my wife and mockingly asked his female colleague, 'Have you ever seen a driver's license like this? Hmm, it's expired.' What?! They are not authorized officials to determine the validity of a driver's license based on their personal opinions. My wife presented them with evidence from the DMV website, but they rudely dismissed it without even looking. They left my wife stranded there, abruptly closing the counter at 7:00 PM. Unfortunately, I was on a delayed flight to Madison, and by the time I arrived, the Herz counter was already closed. My wife sought assistance from other rental car companies at the airport like Avis, National, and Enterprise, who expressed sympathy for the situation but couldn't provide an available car. This incident completely disrupted our travel plans in and around Madison, as we had no alternative options at that moment. Frustrated, I canceled my flight from ORD to MSN, and had to rent a car in Chicago and drive to Madison to pick up my wife. Just two weeks ago, we had a seamless car rental experience with Avis using the exact same valid NYS driver's license during our trip to Tampa, FL, creating a positive memory. Rental car company staff are often the first people travelers encounter in a new city, and this appalling experience tarnished our impression of Madison and Wisconsin. I strongly recommend choosing other companies like Avis, National, and Enterprise when visiting Madison. Don't let the Herz staff here ruin your perception of this city and state. It's disheartening to know that Herz prioritizes funding Tom Brady instead of providing satisfactory customer service.
