The geographic location is nice and the building itself is in fair condition, renovated despite being an old building, but I have noticed this place has gotten noticeably dirtier ever since the change in management from Bell to Akelius. I regularly see cigarettes, beer cans, and trash in the stairwells and there are sometimes people who sit in there to smoke. Some people have dogs and they let them urinate in the elevator or at the front entrance. They also started charging for parking without advance notice. The main thing I can't stand is the walls are so thin to the point you can actually hear clearly enough to make out words from your neighbors, just to illustrate how there's practically no soundproofing in the walls. Honestly, I would just deal with it if it was in the daytime, but what makes it worse is that some of the residents are so inconsiderate towards other people and will do obnoxious things like turn on the TV loud enough that it wakes you up at 5 AM even with ear plugs, vacuum the walls when it's way past midnight, or slam cabinet doors when you're trying to sleep. I know some noise is inevitable and even expected for apartment living, but I generally try to be as quiet as possible (especially close to hours people typically sleep) to not disturb my neighbors, it's just too bad it seems many of the people that live here don't do the same (idk if it's that they were never taught common courtesy or they come from low-trust environments or whatever). So if you do still decide to move here after reading this, just hope that your neighbors aren't complete jerks. Really, the only saving grace for this place is that its close to DC, the surrounding neighborhood is fairly nice, and the building staff seems generally good (though some of the other commenters here seem to have had worse experiences). But I would definitely move to a better building in a heartbeat if you're willing/able to pay a bit more in rent or move further out to a more inexpensive area.

Today, I submitted an online maintenance request for an appointment to resolve a plumbing issue. Within 10 min or so, I received a call from the Akelius customer service rep. Phillip to confirm the appointment. In less than an hour, Amilcar and Taufee visited my apartment and did a great job at quickly fixing the issue. Thank you for always being so caring and prompt in your work. I appreciate all your help, positivity and professionalism!
