Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portland East, an IHG Hotel

Was under construction during our visit so almost all the amenities we were looking fwd to were unavailable and we weren't informed at the time of booking until well after the process was completed and there doesn't seem to exist anywhere online a notice or update at all but otherwise was a typical night stay in a motel.

Fyi there's also no screens on any of they're windows, so not safe to grab room on any floor but the first for safety reason regarding the children if you're a family person but tbh isn't many of those. Ask the management for a accommodation and every time was greeted with a slightly offended and very rude mentality. Wish they had better customer service and at least a screen on my window.

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a sign on the door stating no guests were welcome to visit you inside while on your stay, the pool was closed, and the continental breakfast was not being offered. I was not made aware of any of this prior to booking. Inside the hotel was undergoing a remodel. The ceiling was ripped out and parts of the carpet were duct taped to the floor. I was optimistic that the rooms had already been updated, but that was not the case. The furniture was worn and stained. Worst yet, the room was filthy. The windows were so dirty you could not see out one side, the paint was peeling off the walls, and there was mold growing across the bathroom ceiling. The bed skirt had clearly not been washed in some time as it was covered in a white crusty substance. I immediately got online and reserved a room at another hotel just down the street because I just could not bring myself to stay in the room.
