    I was asked to provide a review over email; without that prompt we wouldnt have. I dont want this to be disregarded as a disgruntled customer. We just ended our relationship with this agency; our family had been with them for 20+ years before Barends purchased Tom Finns agency. When it was Tom Finn, we would call and someone (usually Michelle or Julie) would walk us through the pros and cons of filing a claim, etc. This calm and sincere care has not been maintained after the transition. In the last three years, we had a car stolen (through no fault of our own) and two small claims on our homeone of which was the belongings for the stolen car (which we were told by the national office we should do). When our car was stolen, we called immediately on a Saturday and left a message. No one called back on Monday. We had to call again on Tuesday afternoon. That is just the beginning of the overall hands-off experience but is a clear illustration of how we felt during our time with them. Another quick example: They instructed us not to pay an elevated bill until our claim was settled and we were hit with a $10 late fee. Instead of intervening and calling the national office, they offered us a $10 gas card after WE made several calls and sent several emails. Ultimately, we filed a $130 home claim for the belongings in our car and it is why national dropped our home policy. No one called to tell us after this decades old relationship: We received a letter in the mail. To find new coverage for both policies, we received several other quotes and are now saving $1500 (!!!!) a year on auto alone.To his credit, Michael was polite, clear, and responsive as we went about canceling. But overall, to be overspending and not receiving counsel over what may be advantageous for our policy, or empathy for a really difficult experience, was quite disappointing. Hopefully there is some sort of benefit for others or them for sharing this requested feedback for the agency.
