Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Fairgrounds

Stayed on 4/3/24 & 4/7/24. Only hotel on the East side of Des Moines city limits. Right next door to the State fairgrounds. When it comes to what your paying for what your getting it wasn't that bad for me; I've stayed at places that were worse & paid more, so wasn't that bad of a deal. Since it is the only mainstream hotel within 2.5 miles it does fill up most nights. Only major downside with being that cheap is drawing in the questionable characters/clientele. The neighborhood the property/fair area is around can be considered rough/sketchy.

The staff here is incredible! Unfortunately, I have had to stay here numerous times over the last 2 and a half weeks. I only say unfortunately because my husband was transferred to a hospital near the hotel and that has been the reason for my stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. As a matter of fact, my mom and dad came to visit my husband on Monday. They didn't expect to stay overnight but some complications arose and they needed a place to stay. They are typically a 5 star hotel type of people but absolutely raved to me about the staff and cleanliness of the room. Thank you to the staff for making an unpleasant situation more bearable and affordable! Rooms: Clean and comfortable

We just needed a place to pull over for the night, the room wasnt overly clean, we had a ground level room with the lock on the window being unlocked & broken, shower was hot but water backed up in tub, saw several ants/spiders, room has a strong urine odor and we had children running up and down the halls and knocking on doors at 11:30pm. The reason for 2 stars was the bed was actually really comfortable and the staff seemed nice enough.

The staff that works at this location is very friendly and professional, but the accommodation are not the best my bathroom had bugs all over as videoed I would not recommend this place at this time.
