My review has been changed from its original post. The third week I was in my apartment I decided to use my fireplace. I had been told it was a working fireplace. I've had fireplaces in the past and wood-burning stoves too, I know all about flue, etc. (Later it was noted by another tenant that they have many raccoon problems in many of the chimneys). Using my fireplace started a back draft SMOKE fire in my apt. It was a 6-alarm fire engine, police cars, and an ambulance. They would accept no responsibility for it, saying that I 'obviously didn't understand how the flue worked'. I offered them to come to test it themselves and of course, they declined, on offering me their iron-clad leases understanding that ANYTHING happening in/above/below my apartment was NOT any of their responsibility. No compensation for the $$$ out of pocket (their comments, "that's what renters insurance is for") expenses for smoke damage. When I wrote my original review I was far too forgiving for that. So, now I've moved out I've felt brave enough to share the real experience. I was told when I rented that my building was a non-smoking building, but many people smoked on my floor, legal stuff or not, and one neighbor smoked very stinky cigars. They said they couldn't stop those people. On the positive side... I never heard my neighbors, my utility bills were low since the building is very well-insulated. I never saw a bug. My apartment was not updated, but I thought that it was reflected in the rent costs (it turns out I was wrong). I was the only person I knew who got their deposit back, it might help that I left it cleaner than it was when I moved in. If you can be in the 'high-rise', #2407, it's the only building of their 22 that has underground parking (at an additional cost) and elevators, for 3 flights of stairs, then it's most certainly a bonus. The pool is a highlight, if that is important to you, although in the last 2 years I was there there were too many problems with other tenants and they'd close the pool for everybody, UNFAIR. But it usually looked great. So, I hope that helps someone. One thing that showed up more over time was the low maintenance of the building and stairways, and in general, the whole complex, they stopped repairs of hall doors, stairways, light bulbs, and much more. The basement parking area is dirty - I often swept my bay or threw buckets of disinfectant on 'piss' corners near my elevator. They had no compassion/responsibility for any theft your bay, or from your vehicle, or the vehicle itself. There are no security cameras anywhere. Sadly, anyone I spoke to living there always had very negative experiences to share. Many stories shocked me, but I can't tell those, they are not my story, but they were really horrible stories. Buyer Beware. In the end, I moved to a New complex. I move out of a building built in the 70s, into a building built 7 years ago. Out of a building with no security into a building with LOTS of security. From no walk-in closet, to a large walk-in, to no laundry in my apartment, to a large laundry room in my apt with lots of storage. From 1 bedroom, 1 bath to moving into 2 bedroom. 2 baths From no exercise equipment in my building, to exercise equipment in my building. I'd guess my new apartment, approx double the square ft, which is up-to-date, has new beautiful carpets, freshly painted walls, no popcorn ceiling, is extremely utility efficient, totally well maintained, and extremely well cared for, best, costs way LESS than what I was paying to Windsor for much less. Thjere isn't a pool where I am, but I'll live! Finally, to end well, the walking/fishing and bike trails are two minutes away, and it's very convenient within minutes to stores, as well as easy access to Highways and the airport. It is nestled into woods, though much of them have not been cleared up from Derecho. My advice is to shop around before renting. There are better places and value for money.

Terrible place to rent from, they over charge you on rent and fees and the management is not easy to work with and maintenance is garbage. I would not recommend signing a lease here.

The office and all maintenance staff have been very nice to me. You never have to worry about ice or snow in the winter. Each building has a secure entrance in front and back which helps me feel safer. They love dogs here and mine is very happy.

Decent place to live but management is poor. So far Ive been overcharged on utilities and had to get a refund for more than half of what they charged me. Now they are looking into why Im being charged so much extra but have yet to get back to me with an answer after a month. Also was told when I signed the lease that I could install a garage opener if I got a garage stall. Went to install one and there is no electric outlet to connect it to so the garage is worthless to me. I was also told when applying for the apartment that the gym was going to be 24/7 and maintenance just needed to get the locks done and then wed get keys. Its been 4 months and management has no update. This was a huge reason I chose Windsor on the River. When my partner and I moved in our AC didnt work and the apartment got extremely hot. We put in a maintenance request and when maintenance came he told us it hadnt worked since before we moved in and he found it very hard to work in our apartment getting it ready for us because it was so hot. When we asked about it getting fixed he said that management was well aware but they didnt want to do anything about it until the spring so we were SOL. My friend warned me about this place but I didnt want it to be true. My mistake. Good apartments but management is useless and untrustworthy.
