Dollar Car Rental - Honolulu Airport

We had booked our rental car with a pickup time well in advance. One would think that the car could then also be provided. First we had to queue at the counter for over an hour until we got the contract. Then the nasty surprise when picking up the car. Around 50 couples and families were waiting for their rental car to be handed over. There was no car in the parking lot. The cars that were dropped off were driven directly to the car wash and distributed to those waiting when called. We waited another 1.5 hours for our car until we could finally set off. Next time we will definitely not rent from Dollar!

Please read the bad reviews before making a reservation. Their cheap price is not worth the headache.

We rented ahead if time through Expedia. Note thar you need to check in upstairs before retrieving your vehicle on the lower level! $500 for six days and we got a beautiful Jeep! The service was great.

Over a two hour wait to get your vehicle. This is after having to wait to sign the rental contract as well ! Stay away and use Hertz! Terrible to have to waste all this time in our vacation. Dollar offered no apologies nor any form of compensation, so that means this is just normal for them.

The car was okay but the advice was poor and misleading. Of course I could have read the "small print" but I trusted the service employee. The bookable option not to fill the tank myself but to have it filled by "dollar" - possibly at a slightly different price - turned out in the end to mean that the entire tank was charged. It was explained differently and so I booked it because I only had to drive a little. I paid approx. 100 USD too much and had no chance of a goodwill gesture. I booked 5 different cars on different islands in three weeks - all other providers were better than "dollar". The car was okay but the advice was bad and misleading.
