As a longstanding customer, one of the earliest patrons of Seacoast Bank (once First Green Bank), I am deeply disappointed by the recent conduct of the institution. Over the years, I entrusted Seacoast (First Green originally) with not only my personal finances, but also with the financial education of my children. From their earliest years, we diligently deposited their allowance, tooth fairy earnings, lemonade stand profits, and fair money into savings accounts, all in an effort to instill in them the importance of banking and saving. However, upon reaching adulthood, my children were met not with congratulations for their financial prudence, but with exorbitant fees and penalties. It is disheartening to witness that Seacoast now prioritizes profit over principles. Charging $15 fees for failing to maintain a $500 minimum balance, effectively eroding the hard-earned savings of young adults, is not only unjust but reflects a lack of empathy and understanding of the very customers they once purported to serve. Once I discovered the fees, over half of their money was gone. I would have gladly put in enough to keep the minimum, if they would have given the kids their money back, but they didn't care. I am compelled to warn prospective customers that Seacoast Bank has forsaken First Green's initial ethos and demonstrates a callous disregard for the financial well-being of its patrons. While banks are expected to operate as businesses, they should not do so at the expense of their customers' trust and financial stability. In conclusion, it is with great disappointment that I must advise others to exercise caution when considering Seacoast for their banking needs. The institution, once a beacon of trust and reliability, has regrettably lost sight of its founding principles and now operates with a heartless pursuit of profit above all else. The fact that they took money from kids' piggy banks is about as heartless as you can get!
