Very old building, decent value for location however the rooms aren't as bright in person. Lobby furniture is sort of gross but overall solid 3 out of 5 because of price.

Hotel well located in downtown San Francisco, comfortable rooms and very nice bedding. Positive point also the bathroom, new and clean. No complaints.

I would rate my stay 3.5/5. Location is excellent in Union Square, the area felt safe and close to restaurants and amenities. This is an older hotel and it does show (lobby, hallways, elevator, etc), but my room was clean and bathroom looked recently updated. The shower was nice. They also provide a good hairdryer with a high power setting. Check in and check out is quick and efficient - I dropped off my access card in a box and left. Negatives - They don't provide housekeeping for shorter stays unless you request it, and I found it annoying to need to request coffee pod and cup refills each day (I was there 3d 2n). It is also loud in the mornings, shouting and banging doors in the hallway. I also tried turning on the window unit and it was unreasonably noisy - I'm not sure how temperature control would work during the warmer months because I wouldn't be able to keep that on. Overall it's not the kind of suite you want to spend a lot of time in, but is perfectly suitable for a place to just shower and sleep. For the price point, I prefer the King George hotel also in Union Square which is a bit higher end and more comfortable.
