I was a resident of this property from Aug 2017 to Nov 2021, initially I loved the property for price/location/overall customer service but when it came time to renew our lease and “market price” increased 25% it was no longer an idea place to live. I lived in 3 different units over the course of my time at Cortland Legacy. Moved from the first one because the neighbor continued to have complaints we were too loud, moved from the second because our above neighbor was constantly loud, moved from our final unit due to outrageous price increase. Interior apartments do not have great phone reception, even connected to wifi I still could only place calls using apps such as WhatsApp or FB (so if you work from home not ideal) we were told this issue was going to be fixed before moving into our 2nd unit in Aug 2019 and it never was (so do not believe it if you are told this lie), there is no reception at the pool, gym or amenities center. While they have a residence wifi it never worked when in those places. If you live on the interior facing the garage forget about having a peaceful anything, everything in the garage echos; vehicles with excessively loud exhaust/music and at times people sitting in their vehicles blaring music as late as 3am, there is no onsite after hours assistance so you just have to deal with it. Also a negative of having an interior unit, there are pet areas where people can take their pets to use the restroom so forget about enjoying your patio in the warmer months because the smell is unbearable. If you have young children be careful in the parking garage because drivers do not care about pedestrians, as annoying as speed bumps would be, I really think this property needs to consider this for safety reasons. Every Wednesday at 12pm there is a city alarm test which blares throughout the property. Over the years living here, and most recently since summer of 2021 there were multiple occassions the parking garage was broken and left open for days/weeks at a time, one door specifically I literally never needed to use the key fab, the door just remained unlatched, so if you are looking for a property that is “safe and secure” this isn’t it. Sometimes the elevators work, sometimes they don’t, for a while one didn’t even have a button for the 4th floor. Most recently I lived in building 2 which always had trash in the hallways outside entrance I constantly saw trash in the parking garage. These were all things I brought up to management when we received the notice of 25% rent increase to which I was told “we just moved to this property and are not aware of these issues” I’m sorry, I refuse to believe this considering Cortland has been the owner of this property for 3 years. There are only 2 dumpster sites for the entire property so they are constantly overflowing. You pay monthly for pest control, however they only come if you put in a request which at that point defeats the purpose since pest are already an issue. I will say they are well insulated so electricity was affordable. With the ongoing construction in the area it is no longer a convenient location. All in all I would not recommend this place for the price point as there a multiple things will not realize are an issue until it is too late. I’m giving this place 2 stars as I feel like maintenance and the groundskeepers are prompt and do their best to keep it clean.
