image I posted a negative review on 9/14/21 as Pacificsource denied a claim after having seen a provider for one month. They made it retroactive which meant the provider wasn't paid anything and I was required to pay out of pocket for all appts. Fortunately the provider was generous and waived all the fees which came to about $1K. I filed an appeal and explained the unfairness of the situation but mostly that they said the provider was initially in network and then said the provider wasn't after one month. They accepted the appeal. The provider gets the money. Pacificsource acknowledged their mistake. I thought this was significant for a large insurance company. Gave me a little faith.This was in Oregon, not San Fran.

image Second time customer and think it's worth acknowledging the great experience I've had with this insurer. My previous employer plan wanted $1400+/month for COBRA and was charging me over $100 per doctor visit, even though I'd already met my deductible. My new plan (individual) is about 60% the cost of the old plan and those same visits are now only $40, even with the deductible reset at 0. They also paid for a fairly expensive medication I take no questions asked. I've also had a few interactions with customer service, and coming from United Healthcare, the difference in wait times, attitude and competence is night and day. Knowing that virtually any Legacy doctor will be in network is also a huge relief/convenience, since it means I can be seen in a reasonable amount of time and by someone who knows what they are doing. Healthcare is a terrible business in this country, so it's a small miracle for any company to behave in an even remotely ethical way. No, it shouldn't cost almost $1,000 for two young, healthy adults to get reasonably good coverage, but having seen how bad other plans are, I'm happy to acknowledge what a deal this is. Even local competitors like Regence are more. At least as far as their silver and gold plans go, I highly recommend PacificSource.

image Too bad there aren't negative stars for a rating.WORST business experience EVER.Signed up through marketplace and tried to pay them.Can't log-in: You need some magic ID number.Their "service" people jerked me around for 10 straight days playing stupid games about the secret ID number that the exchange supposedly gave me. I used the ID from the exchange - no go. More runaround and stupid guessing games. 45 minutes on the phone with the supervisor at the exchange - who said THERE IS NO OTHER NUMBER TO GIVE.PacificSource employees toying with customers, wasting their time and jerking them around for sport, apparently.After ten days, someone emails me the number they've been demanding FROM me. It has NOTHING to do with the exchange.Try to pay them for the whole year.Their system doesn't work. Will only allow one month payment.Try to log back in to pay more months. Their system doesn't work - and now says my login is invalid.THIS IS ME TRYING TO GIVE THEM MONEY."Imagine trying to get them to pay a claim" I think. And, I check Yelp. And, here we are - with almost 100% one-star reviews.They finally email me a several-PAGE document that's supposed to be my "instructions" for how to "navigate their system" (translation: do their administrative work for them). What a NIGHTMARE.This company is THE WORST customer service, the worst web interface, the worst employee attitude, the worst experience ever. And, I've never said this about any company before. They are THE WORST. Going immediately to a different provider.AVOID THIS CESSPIT as if your life depended on it - because if you need medical care it very well may.
