I hadn’t been in the hospital for a long time and wanted to purposely avoid that location at every cost. That being said, I slipped on the ice and tore my patella tendon. From the time I entered the hospital the staff were nothing short of polite and energetic. I was immediately put in a holding location where staff were already assisting me with my preparation. I could see how tired and worn out the staff were, but they consistently showed me nothing but kindness and real concern despite being overworked. I know this post is long, but I was pleasantly surprised given all the staff had been through to show so much compassion. I constantly thanked all of them because I know in those situations just a Thank You could go a long way. I wish I could name them all, but I remember Sejal, Renee and Michel Lam-Fortes. My entire experience was Simply the Best! So thank you to all the those who assisted me from the day I arrived to the day I left! ThANK YOU!! Also, the hospital was very clean and that was comforting!

My mother was suddenly assaulted by another patient in the Emergency room and suffered a serious injury. I was displeased with their explanation and follow up.

I was so happy to be transferred to RWJ. The nurses on the 5th floor tower were amazing. They made time to talk to me when I needed clarification and their positive attitude made me feel positive. My doctors were in constant contact. Everyone on the 5th floor, from nurses the aids, were honestly concerned about my comfort. I’ve been to a few hospitals lately and the level of care RWJ was the best.

I wish I could give a better review than 2 stars, because in November of 2004, when I was run over by a car, RWJ took excellent care of me for nearly a month. I kept going back there for inpatient help related to my injuries, and I was always satisfied -- until my last inpatient stay. This is BEFORE "covid 19, " BTW. At that time, they put me in a room the size of a walk-in closet. THE ROOM HAD NO WINDOW! NONE--only travel posters. The pic line they put in was not sterile, and in 24 hrs I developed septicemia (blood poisoning) with a temp of 104.6. It took a week just to get the infection under control. They sent me to rehab without doing any final tests, which would have shown that I now had a urinary tract infection. After 48 hrs I was desperately ill again with a 105 degree infection and hallucinating, so RWJ took me back and for another night and day they put me in a large ward with many other people. I will NEVER go back again! The cellulitis in my calf that first brought me to RWJ would have needed 3-4 days to cure. Instead, I was there for nearly a month. I believe that most recent negative reviews are somehow related to the COVID-19 pandemic, when both medical people and patients are already fearful, distracted and angry. Mine was prior to that, but has left such scary memories that I finally felt the need to record my experience here.
