Go the back of circus circus lot and to the fifth floor. This is not clearly evident. Key drop off is in the casino near hotel registration

Pretty miserable experience. Wish Id have rented elsewhere, even if it cost a few $$$ more.
Reserved online only to wait 1.5 hours in line because they only had one staff working, taking customers and cleaning the cars himself!
Upon car return, they tacked on several extra fees including fuel (we returned 8/8, higher than we started 7/8!!!), making our total bill 130% of the original total agreed upon. We returned the car after 8 hours of use, too
Please seek car rentals elsewhere and briefly read the reviews before you rent.

The person at the Circus Circus counter was not there at my arrival at 9:25am. It was indicated that she would be back at 10am. However, there was a phone number to call in case she is absent. So I called the number 4 times at different intervals. She would never pick up the phone. Only answered once by text saying she would be back in 20min and appreciates my patience, so she is getting the calls but just never answers. I waited for 50 min after that text and she came at 10:20am. Which is not even the return time indicated at the counter and knowing a customer is waiting.
When she came back, there was a line-up of customers.
I did rent the car as of 8am and she said that she was waiting for me at 8am and she would see if cars are available. If I paid for the day and my credit card is in the system, she cannot rent my car even if I show up later or don't show up at all. The car is paid for. So no point in telling me I will see if a car is still available!
The lady comes back and doesn't even excuse herself for the delay. She talks as if nothing happened and as if she is right about everything. Zero customer service.
I wonder what was she doing for about 50min she was away from her desk. Clearly not preparing the cars, because she just gave me the keys and vaguely explained in what parking lot the car is located just to quickly get rid of me. So she never takes time to accompany customers to the car and there should be no reason to go away for this long from the desk in the morning during peak hour leaving a line of customers waiting.
If Avis wants to have a good customer service, this is definitely not the type of employee you want to have.
I understand they can be a wait time, an inconvenience etc but the minimum is to communicate with the customer instead of ignoring their calls and act as if nothing happens and she owns the business and can do whatever.
The people selling tickets sitting at the neoghboring counter can witness her absences I am sure.

When we arrived to pickup our vehicle rental, we were told they did not have a car (compact) available for us. I had booked this reservation 4 months prior, and was told there was basically nothing they could do other than wait for someone to return one. We waited at the location for nearly 4 hours until a vehicle became available. While working with the agent at the Circus Circus Las Vegas AVIS location, they could not offer us any substitute vehicle other than a 12 or 15 passenger vehicle, or a 7 passenger SUV, which they insisted they had to upcharge us for even though we only wanted a compact car. The price difference was several hundred dollars more, even though this was not our fault that there was no vehicle available for us. They tried calling another location, and the only options to substitute would also incur an additional "upcharge". This was very frustrating, and not particularly strong customer service as other rental agencies I've dealt with for work have had no problem substituting if there was nothing available.
In addition, this rental location seemed to be poorly staffed, as the agent we were dealing with seemed to be single handedly running the entire operation and was away from the counter for almost an hour at one point with a significant line of customers forming.
We were extremely disappointed with the service received from AVIS, as it interrupted our travel plans and we had to skip a day trip we had planned. Eventually we did get a vehicle, but this was frustrating enough that I will actively avoid AVIS for future car rentals, or at the very least this specific location.

I'd give a negative rating if I could. We arrived at Circus Circus Avis having rented a car through Costco. Paid for and selected Intermediate with the expectation of receiving an intermediate (or intermediate-like) car, arrived at front desk only to find that no (combustion engine) cars without upgrade fees were available. After being jerked around, we were FORCED to pay an upgrade fee to get a car at all through no fault of our own - it should have been on AVIS to provide a car at the agreed rate, regardless of the fare class, if there are no cars available.
All in all, we wasted almost two hours on the whole ordeal which cost us time and caused us to scrap one of our outing plans for the day. Honestly we were probably better off going literally anywhere else...truly you get what you pay for. Between the deceptive availability and abhorrently disgusting business practices, we will be avoiding Avis altogether in the future for our car rental needs.
