The actual bank is closed. All that's open is the ATM. Like what's the point???

TCF Bank is hands down one of the worst banks around. They recently merged with Chemical Bank, where I had an account, after which I'm suddenly being charged a $3 monthly statement fee. I called to ask about it (was on hold for 45 minutes) and the rep says the government requires that we send the paper statement so you have to pay the fee for it. So basically they stick it to customers they inherit from Chemical. Welcome to TCF, now pay this fee...nice customer service.
There's a pattern here because around 9 or 10 years ago I had a Totally Free Checking account with TCF which suddenly became fee-based unless you maintained a minimum balance. I then switched to Marquette Bank which offered a no minimum balance totally free checking and still does today. About a year after switching, TCF started advertising their old Totally Free Checking Account again....gee, maybe lost too many accounts?!?!? The leadership (if you can call it that) at this bank is abysmal - an absolute joke.
