GOLD'S GYM

First time joining a gym and I've had a wonderful experience at the Apalachee location of Gold's Gym. I've not felt uncomfortable or looked down on by staff/other members and my personal trainer - and all the staff so far - have been fun, kind, and motivating. This is the one I go to because it's close to where I work and, surprisingly, it hasn't been slam packed at 5 like I expected. There is a good mix of all age groups there so it's not like I'm surrounded by college kids or elders. The things I've most appreciated it that they've not been secretive and have taught me about the science behind working out, which I didn't even think was a think before. It's continuing to be a great place to learn and grow, and my trainer tailors workouts to meet my needs rather than just trying to make me jacked or some other meathead lingo.

I got a membership here about 2 months ago and I've really seen results and they've been great to me.

The only reason I work out at this location is because it's the closest to my house, but I prefer to go to capital circle location whenever possible. Out of all the staff members I've only noticed 2 guys that greet people and that's if they are there working. The other staff, besides the girl who does the circuit class, does not even seem friendly at all. If you like to sweat a lot I suggest going here because it feels like they don't have air conditioning. They don't have a private weight room for women like capital cir. The only area to do abs and have a semi-private weight workout downstairs gets taken over by their "classes" and you will get booted out if you are in the way..even if you are in the middle of a workout! I would not recommend this gym. If you want to get a Gold's membership then I suggest getting it at the capital circle location.

Tried to cancel my membership 6 months ago. And yet they bill me every month. Standard trashy gym, run by retards and goons.

I'm going to frame this review with the fact the gym is $20 a month. Its OK and has an average selection of equipment but I've been to all the Golds in Tallahassee and they all have run down equipment, some of it is border line dangerous with screws coming lose. Of the 3 locations I prefer this one because its a little less packed. I'm use to gyms that have new equipment with replacements coming in each year using our maintenance fee. Golds gyms in Tallahassee look like they have had new equipment in years. I've never been to a gym that doesn't allow you to check out a towel. Golds doesn't. The tanning booths are a joke. Do they work? Yes, but they are old and you have to clean the booth yourself. There are several personal trainers/enrollment experts at the entrance but I see no one walking the gym and checking equipment. The younger college kids still think someone is cleaning up after them so they use dumbbells and leave them everywhere. Someone needs to check on that from time to time. All and all the gym is decent and for the money does the job. I've been to some beautiful Golds gyms with state of the art equipment. This is not one of those but its good enough.
