I was thankful while grabbing a smoothie one afternoon at our local Juice it up, and grabbed a Scholarship Prep flyer for a new Charter School location opening off Grand + 17th.  I checked online and read amazing reviews including a California Distinguished School award received in 2020 which only a handful of schools in OC are awarded each year, the top award for public elementary schools. I quickly submitted a lottery application on Lotterease and was thankful to hit a waitlist spot.  Within a couple weeks our spot was granted and next thing you know I was sitting in a short presentation by their incredibly enthusiastic Principal who was actually a founding teacher, Ms Denise Allotey.  After hearing of the Elective courses that are offered even for Tk+Kinder students, I knew my son would love going to this new type of school with an academic focus and what seemed to offer a focused program for our kids enrichment.  Today, we attended the Meet Your Teacher day, had an opportunity to meet our sons Kindergarten teacher and his elective teachers, receive his new uniform, and meet his YMCA after school instructors.  The whole feel of the teachers, campus, principals, and community partners really felt like a private school style with a focus on preparing their scholars for world- class high schools like Mater Dei, OC High School of the Arts, and many more.  We can't wait to update our review in a month or so and tell you how our son is enjoying being a scholar at SPSA with Ms Gutierrez!!
