The Open School

The Open School was created as a safe place for children to grow and transform their lives, and it did that for our son.  His time at The Open School was a pivotal turning point for him.  And to Cassi and The Open School, for this, we are eternally grateful for what they have created and it's role in our son's life!  He's more happy and confident after his experience at The Open School!  We could go on and on, but what we really want to say is:  Thank you, thank you!!

We are so happy to have found The Open School. Our son has ADHD. Despite being a bright kid, he struggled in public school and was miserable. His confidence and love of learning decreased with each passing year. We tried school intervention, tutoring, medications, therapy, OT and more, all aimed at helping him sit and stay focused through a traditional six-hour school day.  It took us way too long to realize nothing's "wrong" with him--he just didn't thrive in that setting. One size does not fit all.We investigated several alternatives as a family and chose The Open School. We liked the large campus where he could move around as needed, the way kids of all ages interact, and the core values of Independence, Responsibility, and Compassion.It's a challenge for us as parents to let go of our ideas about what "school" should look like, but we have no doubt about the changes in our son. He is more confident, willing to try new things, communicates, and is less bothered if things don't go his way. At home we have interesting conversations, when we used to be arguing over homework. He is learning who he is as a person, and so are we. I highly recommend checking out The Open School if you are looking for an alternative to traditional schooling.

I highly recommend you check out this amazing school! I have seen a growth in maturity in my two boys, in thinking for themselves, in coming to their own conclusions. At The Open School, they have time to explore, ask questions and delve deeper into subjects that interest them. If all kids could be exposed to this type of learning, I think our future world would be a better place.
