Car was good. However I was sold damage insurance that I did not need in San Diego. I was told that since I was from MN my insurance company would not pay for car damage. This is not true. Check with your insurance company first so you are not sold something you don't need. I could have saved some money!

Charging 125$ for vacuum cleaning the carpets after returning the car is fraud. Never going to rent again with Budget.

Car was not clean. Car smelled like smoke. Pet fur, trash, and a phone charger was left in the vehicle. A tape measure was stuck on the floor of the back seat with a mysterious brown substance. We did not notice the trash at the time of pickup, as it was dark and late at night. No one from staff inspected the vehicle with us at exit. Luckily, we did that on our own. I will only use Enterprise from now on.

BEWARE DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET IN THE SAN DIEGO AIRPORT! If I could give them zero stars I would. I rented a large sedan and got to the airport for them to tell me all they had was a small Kia SUV. I agreed and when I got in it, it smelled like mildew. I had to go back to the counter for an exchange. They told me the only car available was a sports car. After going back and forth with them I finally took the mustang which barely had enough room to fit my wife, myself and my son along with our luggage. The car was brand new and I specifically said I didnt want it because I knew they would charge me for something that we didnt do. I made the gate attendant get out and walk around the full vehicle. I told him there was a small pea sized ding in the windshield as well as scratching on the bumper. His exact words were "they only care about actual collision damage. they understand small dings and things will happen". I should have got him to sign something saying where the damage was. An hour after dropping the car off IN THE EXACT SAME CONDITION I RENTED IT IN, they sent me an email with a picture of the exact same miniscule chip in the windshield and are assessing a damage claim against me. A windshield that will cost well over 500$. I called to complain and the AVIS customer service rep actually agreed with me and stated "Im so sorry. I have no idea why they do this but it happens all the time and unfortunately there is no way I can get it off unless you have pictures of it as you took it." BUDGET SAN DIEGO AIRPORT IS THE WORST. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.... YOU WILL REGRET IT AND IT WILL COST YOU WAY MORE IN THE LONG RUN. Just pay extra for a reputable company like Enterprise or Hertz. Also pay no attention to their inevitable response to this complaint. They will just give me a reference number to make it seem like they are helping but there is a 100% chance that they will do nothing. If this review is still up THEY HAVE NOT HELPED. I will remove the review if they do.
