just moved out a few months ago. There is open parking next to the complex but a few old tenants control it. Please advice the landlord will say it’s open but won’t do anything. If you move in be sure to ask the landlord to change Parking issue.

I lived here briefly but it was my favorite place to rent and I’ve lived in several different complexes over the years. Carl was an excellent landlord and very accommodating. Work orders were done within 24-48 hours and Carl would occasionally send emails to tenants about building repairs, etc in advance. Sure, maybe the applicant screening is strict but my neighbors were great and I had no issues with anyone. The neighborhood was safe and within walking distance to several shopping centers and restaurants. I actually miss living here and would recommend this complex to anyone looking for an affordable place to live.

Great value for the area. The apartments are clean and well-maintained. Management is fair and attentive. It’s telling that the negative reviews here seem to be from people who didn’t meet the requirements to actually rent.

As someone who works hard, pays their bills and has stellar references I’m writing this review to save others’ time. It’s pretty unfortunate to deal with someone being untrustworthy in a way that affects your credit and livelihood. The first red flag was when Carl, the property manager promised I would be first choice for the apartment since I had been the first to inquire and see the apartment via my boyfriend since I was back in my hometown at the time. After my boyfriend corresponded with Carl multiples times, first in person, then by phone, Carl out of nowhere informed us that another woman had put her application in before me and he’d be renting to her, despite him promising us the apartment. Ignoring red flags because of cheaper rent is something I don’t recommend because you end up dealing with people who really don’t care about you. Despite the complex having no onsite parking, only busy street parking, and subpar, outdated studios in general-we believed Carl once more when he said he’d place us first on the list for the next apartment that opened up. An apartment opened up, Carl contacted me, told me all the requirements, I met his requirements, Carl ran my credit lowering my score only to make up a new rule AFTER running my credit that your monthly expense to salary ratio could not be above some made up number. My boyfriend then explained to Carl that we both make more than enough money, and the “monthly expenses†are student loans that are currently in deferment. After my boyfriend offered to pay double the deposit to make everyone more comfortable Carl then runs HIS credit and makes up another rule, and ignores us. Carl refunded us our application fees as business refunds, letting the return fees come on us, and a month later the returns are still pending so we haven’t received the money back. All in all this was an eye opening experience, and trust me when I say there are many other buildings in the area, which are safer and have off street parking with more trustworthy managers and owners and whom take better care of their properties. I’m happy to say I’ve found a great renovated clean place with off street and covered parking and I’m so glad I’m done with the mess that is Carl and Loma scenic. The only reason the reviews are above one star is because the owner of the building rated it 5 stars.

I am the owner of the apartment in question. Mr. Canales did not pay the application fee until after 2 of the apartments I had available were rented. So when he told me he needed to move on 5/20 I attempted to accommodate him. I contacted my tenant who was scheduled to move out on 5/31 and asked if he would consider moving by 5/19. He agreed. I contacted Mr. Canales and told him I had arranged for an early move out by my tenant to accommodate his need to move on 5/20. We agreed on a date and time for Mr. Canales to see the apartment and provide the holding deposit. He did not show up or contact me to say he could not make the appointment. My manager waited all afternoon for Mr. Canales to show up, which he did not. All Mr. Canales would have needed to do was simply call or text and say he couldn’t make the appointment, but he did not. Frequently applicants change their mind, and do not inform the landlord. Since I had other people wanted the apartment, I moved on to the next applicant. I am happy to provide references from current and past tenants who will confirm that I am a very honest, fair and attentive landlord.
