Moving out due to relocation of my job and the complex still wanted 60 days and 2 months rent to buy out of lease. A ridiculous idea to not be more considered after living here multiple years. Read new leases carefully if moving here.

I went to tour Kota, I had the pleasure of meeting Deb. Showed me around the beautiful community! She was very knowledgeable on places to go eat, shop and entertain. We hope to be a part of the Kota family in December.

My family and I were contacted less than 24hrs before our move in date and told our apt. was still being remodeled. We postponed our move for another week. The second move in date approaches, they call again less than 24hrs to tell us that it is still not finished. We were told we would be able to move our belongings into the apt. and stay in a temporary condo while they finish up. We show up to move our items into the apt and are unable to due to a pile of old appliances on the patio, wet paint, tools, light fixtures hanging out, etc.
The lack of communication between the property manager, Sunshine Ellis and the maintenance manager, Francisco was reason we couldn’t move in. This situation could have been prevented if they were honest and upfront that they weren’t done. We were pushed off to six different people, some of which had no idea what our situation was, during the process. Our calls were rarely returned, emails were few and far between with little truth to them. My husband had to drive down to the office to get answers from them, and even then those were broken promises. We didn’t feel like a priority, but more like a burden to them. We lived out of boxes, our moving truck sat in the heat for days and lost three days of wages not being able to go to work while they sorted the situation out. We extended our moving truck three different times ($358). Our families took off work to help us move twice. Six days after our original move in date the apt was finally “ready”. We go to do a walk through and the apt remodel is rushed and sloppy. Paint splatters on the new flooring and bathroom mirrors, outlet wires exposed under the sink, blinds missing, dirty air filters, grout on faucet handles, missing trim, scuffed floor boards and doors. It was very disappointing to wait almost a week to finally move in and walk into a 2,000/month apt. and seeing such poor quality work. Ultimately, we did not feel confident moving forward and voided the lease. We received our deposit and other fees back, but we’ll never get the time and lost wages back. We still have the stress of finding a new place to live.
This also happened to another women who was staying at a temporary condo across from ours. It’s sad knowing we weren’t the only ones and it wasn’t just a misunderstanding. Bottom line Kota North was unprofessional and disappointing. Sunshine Ellis and Francisco need to be held accountable. My husband, my four year old, dogs and I were so exhausted after it all. I hope that this won’t happen to anyone else.
