Tides at South Tempe

Lived here from Dec 2022 - May 2023. Did a lease buyout because of how horrible it was. :( I know I'm posting this review nearly a year later but I was honestly scared they would retaliate if I posted it sooner. I could write a novel about everything awful that happened but I'll try to summarize as best I can. We read a lot of bad reviews but decided to chance it because it was a good location for us and the staff was so polite. Huge mistake. Read and trust the reviews! The staff turnover rate was ridiculous. We even got a new manager during the short time we were there (that made NO difference unfortunately). They seem to use caller ID and will start ignoring your calls. We had to go in multiple times because no one would answer the phone (wasn't an issue when we were first interested in the place). They were constantly understaffed as well. We went in to complain so often (something I don't normally do) that the manager started refusing to see us. After the initial contract was signed, things went downhill. They kept pushing back our move-in date and we had to move in on Christmas DAY in order to vacate our previous residency on time. The apartment was filthy upon move-in. After a couple of days we also learned the entire building was infested with roaches. We constantly complained about that and after a few months, they hired a company to do an extreme spray (one where you can't be in your apartment for most of that day), however we had an inside camera set up and they didn't even touch half the apartment!! The roach problem obviously never went away. When we moved out we had to throw away the majority of our belongings, electronics, and furniture because of the roaches. The laundry room by the office was nice enough, however the other two were terrible. One stunk of urine and the other was constantly being vandalized. There were no gym rules posted and quite a few people blasted music while others let their children run around the equipment. It was also broken into at one point. We never had a chance to use the pools but again, the western ones were in terrible condition compared to the one by the office. There was dog poop and cigarette butts all over the place as well (except near the office). We had so many maintenance issues at move-in and not a single one was even addressed until mid-February. Then they kept coming into our apartment after they claimed they fixed everything (as I said before, we had cameras). Some of the issues weren't even fixed by the time we moved out. The mailbox area is not well lit and a lot of the boxes are pretty beat up. You have to pay to use the package kiosk and even after that half, our packages were still left at our door (the office said we had to tell the shipping companies, but they were also inconsistent). They have a sign in the office that recommends an app for paying rent.... do NOT use it! Even a couple of the staff members told us it doesn't always work and you WILL be charged the late fees. I do NOT recommend the Tides at Tempe and have heard from other people that all the Tides in the valley are awful. This is the summary... imagine the entire novel! -.-

I've been here since 2017 I love it my neighbors are great it's quiet but I'm a little concerned about the rays of the water bill which I used to pay no more than $45 now it's almost doubled I live in a studio apartment all by myself and I don't use that much water because I'm all alone hopefully the new management company along with the new water company can come up with some type of solution to help the ones who only have a studio and not a one bedroom two bedroom or even three bedrooms thank you for your consideration

The apt is great I needed a place to go and Rory got me moved in ASAP explained exactly how things are here and I am happy to stay at the tides !!!
