My mom was diagnosed with dementia and fell at home ( she lived with me) the reason why she ended up in the hospital. I decided to place my mom here at Reo Vista and stayed here for almost 3 months. With my mom progressing dementia where she wanders a lot also I would say she could be a handful to Reo staff especially to the nurses but I was amazed at how patiently they cared for her with respect, dignity, compassion and with professionalism. As a daughter, I only want the best for my loved one but for some families they blame the facility for things if they dont do or go their way ( is it guilt? Are you a perfectionist? ) or demands that are too overboard and not realistic at all. Nurses are not maids, they deserve respect for what they do, theyre humans not robots, they have families too like you, they also have other patients besides your loved ones. I ask my self, will they prevent my Mom from falling again because the staff will be there to watch her at all times? NO!. Reality check: My mom fell while living with me under my care or to some of you while you were away and or she lived alone independently and expect the facility to prevent her from falling? If I cant prevent my mom from falling what more for them whos caring for a lot of patients. As a family member, we don't just dump all the responsibilities and blame on the facility. We can also extend our help to assist them. It works both ways, ladies and gentlemen! Have someone (a family member or you) be there for your loved ones because the nurses have other patients to tend to also. Families should take turns to be there for them. I thank the staff here because I got some help somehow caring for her the best they could instead of me dealing with it alone at home. After my visits to her from work, I get to go home, distress, get some rest, and sleep soundly at night knowing shes in good hands. A wonderful experience while she was recuperating here, Reo Vista even had a hot table( cafeteria style) for their dining experience/ restaurant set up, cleanliness was superb, and therapy worked on her 5xs a week to take her back to her baseline at least, and she was offered things to do in her room at her own time to keep her busy. On behalf of my whole family, we are very grateful to everybody and thank you for all you do, not only for my mom but also for all the patients of Reo Vista. God Bless you all Reo Vista Staff for your dedication to delivering good care and support to the patients and their families. Ending with the saying There is no place like home but Reo Vista is the place I can consider to be my mom's second home while away from home. I recommend this place 100% with two thumbs up!
