Fantastic craftsmanship and great prices! The wait took a little while but considering he makes them himself and the quality is excellent, we were ok with the wait!

American Shutters & Blinds installed plantation shutters throughout our house and I discovered that the shutters have a manufacturer defect. Fifteen out of twenty-three windows have defective shutters. These windows have more louvers on the bottom than the top, which makes the windows look disproportionately larger on the bottom and smaller on the top. For example, the bottom half of the shutters have 11 louvers and the top half of the shutters have nine louvers. The guardrail on each shutter is higher and it does not cover the dividing portion of the windows. This gives a very sloppy look on the inside and the outside of the house. In addition, the paint has come off the shutter at the point where the shutter closes and the metal piece touches the louver. This has occurred on a few of the shutters. Possibly, this is due to applying one coat of paint on the shutters or another defect with the metal flushing against the louver on some of the shutters. This should be covered under the company's warranty. Nevertheless, American Shutters & Blinds did not produce a custom look to our windows with their defective shutters. When I spoke with Ashley Jerman, the owner of American Shutters & Blinds, he referred to the defect as a "miscommunication" and told my husband and I that there is nothing he can do outside of replacing the shutters at cost to us. He refused to come out to our house to examine his mistake and he was quite augmentative. We reminded him of the business we gave him costing us $8600.00; however, Ashley's attitude was aloof and non-negotiable. He demonstrated extremely poor customer service mannerism. Finally, due to our persistence and back and forth communication, he told us he would redo the shutters at cost, but we would be out of pocket another $2800.00. For two months, we have been trying to get the owner of American Shutters & Blinds to rectify his mistake, but he is not willing to take a loss to produce satisfied customers. Before the sale, we were very important customers to his business. However, after he sold us the shutters, we became unimportant and a nuisance to him and his business. Ashley Jerman, owner of American Shutters & Blinds has exhibited unprofessionalism and arrogance toward his unsatisfied customers. His inattentive attitude toward my husband and I after the final business transaction is unacceptable. His dishonorable behavior toward unsatisfied customers is a breach of what he guarantees before the final sale; no customer should tolerate such greed and arrogance from a business. There are numerous plantation shutter companies; unfortunately, we chose poorly when we trusted American Shutters & Blinds to give us quality workmanship or to correct poor quality workmanship. We sincerely regret ever doing business with American Shutters & Blinds. We were enticed by the price and the promise of quality work and a custom result. Unfortunately, we did not get what we paid for with this company. They have appalling customer service and I would advise anyone considering American Shutters & Blinds to definitely shop around before deciding on them. Because if there is a dispute, or if the owner (Ashley Jerman) of American Shutters & Blinds makes a mistake, it will be the customer's fault or interpreted as a ‘miscommunication’ so that he can save face and save money. This is unfair and customers should, not tolerate unscrupulous behavior by the owner. Be forewarned, American Shutters & Blinds does not correct any manufacturer defects that will cost them money; hence, they will not honor any warranties, or guarantee their work after they receive their money.
