Living at Highland Communities has been nothing short of spectacular. My apartment is spacious and modern, with high-end finishes and appliances that make me feel like I'm living in luxury. The open floor plan is perfect for entertaining, and the large windows let in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. One of my favorite amenities is the resort-style pool. It's the perfect spot to relax on a hot summer day, and I love lounging in one of the cabanas with a good book. The location of Highland Communities is ideal, with easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment options. I love being able to walk to nearby restaurants and shops, and the proximity to major highways makes it easy to get around the area. Overall, living at Highland Communities has exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of luxury amenities, beautiful surroundings, and a friendly community atmosphere make it the perfect place to call home. I couldn't be happier with my decision to live here.

Really disappointed in this place. I've debated leaving a review several times, but what happened this week pushed me over the edge.
Maintenance has usually been very responsive and caring, but I left town to visit home for spring break and they left my door unlocked while I was away. My boyfriend who has a key stopped by while I was gone to use the bathroom after work, and told me my door was unlocked. I remembered specifically locking it as I'm very cautious. I thought he must be mistaken and let it go, but today, maintenance showed up and told me they did a routine inspection last week and an email was sent about it (I double triple checked and I did not receive one). This explains why my door was somehow unlocked. This is not only frustrating but also dangerous as a woman living alone here. I obviously have valuables and personal information that was put at risk while I wasn't even here to do anything about it or find out.
Fairly recently I also had a scary interaction while maintenance came in without permission for pest control and I was in the shower. It took me yelling several times asking him to "please leave and give me a minute" to get him to step back out. The bathroom door was open and as a woman that was a very uncomfortable situation to be in.
Other than these two issues, the apartments themselves aren't great either. The laundry now costs $10 for two small loads where half of the time only one of the two washers are working, the pool is open for maybe one month out of the year, the leasing office is closed on random days with only an email notifying residents the day of so if you need laundry coins you're screwed, parking isn't included in the rent but the lots are constantly filled with cars of people who don't live here/have parking stickers (I saw them having people towed for like 4 days and then it went back to normal) which is also difficult as a woman living alone having to walk around late at night instead of parking in front of the building, the garbage trucks come around 2-4am and are EXTREMELY loud, the units are old and constantly smell musty no matter how much you clean, there's roaches and earwigs even if you leave zero trash out ever, everything clearly got the "landlord special", there's black mold in the shower, extremely thin walls (especially the ceiling), homeless people digging around in the dumpsters and yelling at people, and you get all of that for $1k+. It's livable, but a scam. Giving 2 stars because I guess it could be worse. Spend your money a little further from campus and avoid this mess.
Edit: Im glad to see that theres a new manager who actually cares about the people living here. After my experience she reached out personally, had maintenance come ASAP to treat the mold and anything else that could be addressed, and then gave me a gift card. Im leaving my review up because I do feel like its valid complaints, but the way that the situation was handled has definitely changed my view of these apartments and their staff in a very positive way.

These apartments have some major issues: 1. The floors are so thin that you can hear your upper level neighbour breathing! So imagine youre sleeping and in the middle of the night your neighbour wakes up! Also management says they can do nothing about it which is reasonable since its the floors! My neighbour walks so heavy and its like some is pounding 24/7! Also floors are very squeaky! Very! Cause the buildings are very old. And the last thing is the water! It gets cold after like 10 minutes! So no shower longer than 10 minutes!
