    Liberty Tax is a franchise. This one is terrible. We were audited because of them. We have had years of issues and thousands of dollars in fines and penalties because of the owner of this location. The lady that runs this franchise is extremely dishonest. There is NO "garentee" at this Liberty Tax location. -5 stars

    I am beyond disappointed with my experience and if I could give a lower score I would. I will start off by saying I have been going to this location for 3 years now. Every year we seem to get an inexperienced tax agent that can hardly use a computer and has to stop every ten minutes or so to have the owner help. Needless to say, every year it takes between 3-4 hours to get a simple tax return completed. In the past I have looked past this and continued to give my business because the staff has always been very friendly. My wife and I had talked before going in this year and decided in addition to doing our 2017 returns we wanted them to double check our 2016 returns because we felt our return was much lower than normal. Upon review Liberty found that the agent from the previous year did make a mistake and failed to give us tax credit for our three children. This error cost us several thousand dollars on our previous return. The owner offered to file an amendment for us at no charge to correct the error but at the time, for whatever reason they couldn't complete the paperwork that night. Keep in mind, at this point over 3 hours had passed. I had to make a return trip with my wife to sign the paperwork a few days later. This was back in January. At the time I was told they would send it in immediately and the IRS would more than likely revieve it into their system at the end of February after 2017 tax refunds we're completed. Towards the end of February I contacted the location numerous times via telephone and in person visits because the IRS had no record of my return being sent in. Nobody at the location could give me answers and they all referred me back to the owner. Well the owner wouldn't return my calls and visits for over a week. When the owner finally did call me back I was assured the amendment had been filed and they even told me that more than likely I would have my amendment by the middle of March. I have been checking the IRS site daily for updates and I have even called them, because the IRS states that it can take up to 3 weeks for their system to accept an amendment once it is received, I was concerned because it still states that they haven't received a record of an amendment. This was also backed up by an actual IRS agent when I called them. This raised concern for me. As a single income family of 5 our returns are important for our financial stability during the course of a year. I have been trying to contact the owner again to find out what is going on since the beginning of March. I have stopped in several times and called on a daily basis. Nobody can tell me anything and they continue to refer me to the owner whom refuses to return the 20+ messages I have left. As of this posting on 3/29 the IRS is still saying they don't have record of an amended return filed by me and I have no answers from Liberty Tax service. I don't understand why it is so hard to offer a customer answers. Especially when the mistake was made by your business in the first place. This has been a completely unacceptable experience this year and I will be looking for a new agent in the future. In closing, if you visit this location expect to be there for 3-4 hours, more than likely expect a lack of experience from the agent helping you, and understand going in that nobody else except the owner seems to know what is going on. I will be willing to revise my post and rating *IF* I ever get a return call to answer my questions. *****Edit-Update**** My 1-star rating will stay the same. I finally filed my amended refund paperwork myself and received payment about a month after mailing the paperwork. Why couldn't a "professional" tax agency get the job done in 6 months? Bottom line is because they lied to me and never took the steps to correct THEIR error. They will never get my business again and shouldn't get yours either. Stay away from them unless you like to sit for hours on end all for them to screw up your taxes in the first place.
