image I just inquired about a unit that was listed for rent and was told that "apt management mostly prefers family...sorry please understand". Discrimination!

Tricia I just reviewed all of our call logs for the property and did not see a call from you. We can access a call report to verify. I also doubled checked with our manager Kara and she doesn’t recognize your name either. I would definitely like to address your review so could you please confirm that was indeed our apartment community you called?

image Pros: Great location, not a lot of street traffic noise at night and the occasional train passing by wasn't a bother for me.
The maintenance man was a good person to talk to. Always spoke to me whenever I pulled into the garage coming in from work.
The rent for the floor plan that I had wasn't bad for a 2br.
Great closet space in both bedrooms.
Cons: The appliances are outdated. The dishwasher in my unit was so small that other than glassware I really couldn't fit a lot of dishes or bakeware inside, it also never worked. The stove and refrigerator were so old that the hinges on the doors were rusting.
I was told by the manager that my unit was getting new carpeting and fresh paint. Well the carpet was new, but I was still able to see curry residue on the kitchen walls and feel it on all cabinet doors from the previous tenants.
The tub in the second bathroom had a hairline crack in it, I never seen that before. And one thing that I found funny was that the hot water took longer to heat up in the kitchen and the second bathroom then it did in the master bedroom bathroom.
I don't know what kind of water softener system they're using but no matter how much I cleaned the toilet, I couldn't get rid of the ring in both bathrooms.
The birds seem to have a thing for building their nests in the balcony areas, bird poop on my balcony from the first day I moved in. I would come home from work mostly every morning and go out and sweep up the twigs and branches from birds trying to build a nest above my door.
And I have lived amongst just about every nationality of neighbors in my time and never had any complaints. But it seems that the Indian families that reside there really do not respect their fellow tenants. The children run through the hallways, no mater what time of the day it is. The family that stayed next door had a child that screamed at the top of her lungs mostly everyday, one night I was woken up by her screaming at 1AM. Their cooking process is something that was hard to get used to. The unit that I rented still had the heavy odor and residue of curry through out the apartment. Then you have the slamming of the doors no matter the time of day, constantly going from one apartment to another. Also when they use their cell phones, the calls are always on speaker instead of using a Bluetooth headset or just simply holding the phone to their ear, and the conversations are always loud. It got to the point where the rest of the tenants began to complain to the management. And good luck inviting guests over for any social activities because they will not find any available parking due to the Indian tenants guests being there well late into the night.
And last thing, I am still trying to figure out what was the $40 amenity fee for??? I received my security deposit back minus that fee. I wonder do they do this to everyone that moves out.
Edit: So I received a response to my question about the $40 amenity fee. I am being told that in the lease contract, they withhold that fee for the use of the children's play area, grilling area, party room, and fitness room. Now I lived at other properties that offered these same features and were never charged. So basically no matter if you utilize these areas, you'll still be minus this fee out of your security deposit.

image We lived there for about 9 months. Since my lease was for 12 months, according to my lease terms, the unit needed to be re-rented by someone else otherwise I would have to pay the rent until my lease period. Someone took the apartment and the unit got re-rented.
The fun part is the owner is already charging the new tenant more than $75/month and still they charged me more than $700 out of the $1200 deposit just for cleaning and painting! When we started there was lots of dirt already in the unit that I reported (photo attached) after moving there. Even though we left the unit super clean, they deducted in total 70% of my deposit out of $1200. Here, I attach the photos that show how much we cleaned the unit when we departed.
My experience with management matches the bad experiences that other recent reviews describe. I strongly believe the management is extremely greedy to get money from tenants and If I anticipated that I would never have rented that property in the first place.

We did look into your concerns mentioned here. The issues do revolve around the fact that you did break your lease. Kara worked diligently to find a new renter which saved you almost $4000 in rent. Unfortunately when you break your lease and move out early we do have to make the apartment ready for the next person. The apartment needed additional cleaning and painting so that someone could move in and we as a business don’t anticipate having to do that after 9 months. Because you needed to move early does not mean that we should be paying extra costs on our end. As to what the new residents are paying that is all driven by the market. We wish you well in your new home and we were glad we could save you some money

image Predatory Company that will try to steal from you !
When I moved out, This place charged me another month of rent when I no longer lived there.
I opened a case with the bank because they didn't tell me when they could refund me. The next day they sent back most of the rent charged.
Willow Brook refused to deal with the case opened with the bank, ( In which they just had to prove they refunded me and the charge back would be dropped. ) and continued to threaten me with legal action.
In the end, they stole $30 from me. ( I never got refunded the entire amount they accidently had charged to me ) But I guess that's better than $1200.
Stay away from these apartments ! They will try to take your money any way they can.
** The auto-payment was set up in their payment website. Not my bank account. There was no auto-payment set up in any of my bank accounts. They left my account account details on their website after I moved out which had auto-pay enabled and continued to charge my account after I moved out.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m not sure if this is Tyler? If it is I took a look and it appears that you did not turn off your auto payments when you moved out. So unfortunately your bank pulled your money to pay rent for April after you had moved out. We don’t have the ability to go into residents bank accounts to make those changes.
