image OK, my wife would give a higher rating as she is a nice person and doesn't want to hurt the people's feelings that run the place. BUT I'm not a curmudgeon...I do give good reviews when deserved. My low rating takes into consideration two key factors.
1. this is advertised as a luxury apartment...meaning **high price**. So its evaluated as such..see CONS below.
2. We had a catastrophic pipe failure in our building that flooded multiple floors and units. We had to live in a hotel across the way for 8-9 days and multiple other days in-unit with industrial dryers and cords...ugh. Here are specifics of PROS and CONS:
PROS:
* Large living area. Bathrooms, Main area, Bedrooms, all with space. So Nice.
* underground parking clean, well lit, spacious, convenient.
* Grounds kept nice. Spring and Fall colors outstanding.
* The office staff tried hard to do the right things and do a good job.
CONS:
* Hard Water...water itself felt "slippery" in shower. You can see and hear the the water softeners working overtime in the carport. My guess is the water may have added to the pipe deterioration and problems.
* Deck was nice but not sealed...wood planks with spaces between...so when it rains it pours thru those slats and unsittable while raining....I wish I could have gone out there when it storms...I like the feel and look of storms in the summer...but not possible, water comes down thru...and if you ever spilt your drink, it would leak down onto your neighbors below. ETC...
* Pipes Burst causing major damage. We had water coming thru the ceiling and side walls, sockets. carpet soaked in places. We didn't even get the worst of it..some people had major losses. Had to stay in hotel for over a week. Pinnacle paid for the hotel and gave us that month's rent free...which is only right. But what an unpleasant experience. I believe they did a good job to fix it and clear moisture to prevent mold...but you never know. Also I wonder if other pipes are deteriorating as well. They had some engineers looking at it. These buildings are nice on the outside but suspect in my mind.
* when they were repairing molding and walls in building there were a lot of board lying in the halls with exposed nails and other equipment for weeks. Some kids running in those halls and I feared for their feet. Even after our apartment was livable..our hallways were a dusty workzone...this went on for a long time.
* Key point, these are billed as luxury apartments...maybe 300-400$ more that similar ones elsewhere. Expect more. We have just moved to a different apartment complex that has similar amenities, a bit smaller, but for $400 less a month.
* minor issues: the pool was inconvenient to get to on the hill and there was an incident of an amazon package being stolen...they don't have a hub.
Conclusion: perhaps going forward things will be better at Pinnacle...but good riddance from me. It was a bad year.

image Is this what Wimmer Communities is coming to?
I had an appointment this afternoon to view a unit at The Pinnacle. I arrived on time; Molly greeted me, and, within, minutes began the tour.
She eventually showed me a unit different that the one I'd specified -- though she assured me that the two units were comparable. The unit she showed me was a complete mess -- with all kinds of construction materials strewn about the place. Both the unit -- and most of the common areas -- look much older than the claimed 15-year-old age of the property.
But that's not the problem.
Here's the thing: Exactly 30 minutes into our tour, Molly's phone vibrates -- and she suddenly announces that (a) she has another showing scheduled for now; and (b) this showing must end.
Oh, okay.
It's clear -- from touring other Wimmer properties -- that Wimmer is cutting corners on those properties. Until today, it wasn't so clear that Wimmer is cutting corners on its people, as well. Throwing a visitor out -- at least figuratively -- so you can get to an apparently more valuable appointment? Wow -- is that a new low.
Do business with Wimmer at your own risk.
UPDATE: Fully two days after posting this review, a company vice-president sent me a nearly 800-word email that includes a significant amount of irrelevant information -- but does nothing to address the core concern here.
Notably, however, the VP describes this episode as "a learning experience."
So, that story again: An apartment company that claims to have been in business for 62 years says it's "learning" how not to conduct spectacularly bungled showings of disheveled units.
Wow.
