The Retreat at Sunbrook

I have been a resident of the Retreat for more than four years. I love it here. It feels home. The staff are friendly and caring for the individual. The residents are kind and make me feel as if I am in a family. I like that every part of the facility is kept very clean. For example, the dining room floor is washed more than once a day. The apartments are large and roomy. The grounds are beautiful where I can walk and enjoy nature. I just love it here.

I appreciate the time Annette spent with me touring the facility and addressing my questions and concerns. The building was beautiful, the staff were helpful and the residents seemed happy and engaged.

You can really tell they care about the residents that live here. The staff is responsive, experienced and they go above and beyond what is required every day.

Well, first off, there are elder abusers here. My wifes grandfather was neglected here. He is now in the ER because they refused to change his diaper for days and didnt give him any help. He now has horrible sores there because of the neglect. Her mom had to call them just to get the horrible news that he is in a critical state. They didnt even reach out to his family to inform them. Hope they go to court and learn a thing or two about having decency toward the elderly that fought in wars to keep us free. UPDATE: found out that they refused him water and the only food theyd give him was ice cream. So when he got to the ER his blood sugar was above 600. She he was starving and severely dehydrated.

Recently I had a situation with my mother here and I can't say enough good things about how they handled it. I have to give a special thanks to Dustin and all the CNA staff. It has been extremely hard not being able to see my mother over this past year and the staff at Sunbrook have had to truly step up to take care of everything since this started. Hopefully we will be able to see our family again soon.
