Update: My husband drove down to Provo (luckily, we didn't move out-of-state) to talk to Casey, who was much more reasonable. They're still keeping our entire deposit, but we no longer have to pay an additional $120. My husband and I enjoyed living here for a year. However, the move-out experience was a nightmare. Like, I literally lost sleep over it. Here's my breakdown of our experience: Pros: The apartments are new washer/dryer hookups and laundry room were really convenient pet-friendly (but $50 monthly pet rent, which is on the higher end) fake wood flooring in the living room/kitchen/laundry room pretty competitive rent costs, for being new 2-bed/2-bath apartments Cons: They're a little inconvenient being so close to train tracks. I got used to the noise over time, but I was delayed more than once on my way to work because of a train. Right next to low-income housing. We frequently saw police paroling, and were never surprised when we heard sirens. Walls aren't very sound-proof. We heard our upstairs neighbors nearly everyday. Even when they were having normal conversation. Off-site management is inconvenient. They have a portal for maintenance, but we had an outstanding order for 2 months prior to moving out. But, the BIGGEST reason for the 2-star rating (probably would've been a 4 otherwise) has been the move-out charges. Word to the wise: you cannot be nit-picky enough in their move-in documentation for the condition of the apartment. We learned our lesson the hard way. Also TAKE PICTURES of the apartment when you move in and when you move out. They took zoom-in pictures of everything on move-out - a total of 216 pictures for us. They charged us for stains (like, paint splatter from when it was built) around the entryway that was there when we moved in. Even though we used 3M hooks (not thumbtacks) on the walls for our decorations, they still charged us for paint touch ups. They charged $270 for professional cleaning even though my husband spent 2 days deep-cleaning the apartment. They charged us for the maintenance order that was never fulfilled. They charged us for water damage in the bathroom, when I couldn't even see it in the photos they sent us. Overall, they charged over $1,000. We're expected to owe money on top of the deposit of $765 that they're keeping. We've always gotten our full deposit back at other apartments, as we clean nearly every weekend, and really try to make our apartment a nice home. We're still debating the charges - will update if anything changes.
