Very creepy atmosphere. The room door did not always latch unless you slammed the door.

By far the worst Courtyard Marriott I have stayed at.
The building is in terrible shape, poorly maintained, reeks of detergent and mold.
Even on a dry day, the humidity levels in the building are shockingly high.
The faculty is 75% empty and they couldnt replace a broken TV after being asked in the morning and given all day to do it.
Pillowcases dont fit the pillows, and the shower and sink drains were plugged.

I recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Northwest. I originally had a reservation for 3 days at the discounted family rate. When I arrived, the staff member advised that they would only accommodate one day. Is this a new policy? I didn't want to make a fuss seeing as I had a confirmed reservation for the full 3 days that they would not honor, so I asked to cancel. The staff then told me it would be a cancellation fee. This is unbelievable service from a Marriott establishment and took me completely by surprise. Not only were they not honoring my original reservation, but they were also going to impose a cancellation fee if I didn't honor my original reservation. That is horrible service to Marriott customers!!! And does not reflect the level of service that I am used to. I was stuck scrambling at the last minute trying to find other accommodations. They put me in a very precarious predicament. The hotel was literally empty so I am not understanding why their process is different to Marriott's process when they are supposed to be a Marriott brand hotel. Completely unacceptable! If they had issues with my reservation, they could have simply called or cancelled it before I arrived, instead of allowing to me come and then bait and switch me. Also, the hotel is a DUMP. Did me a favor honestly.

Hotel room was not very clean at all. Construction was going on in the lobby, which I get but we were not informed of this upon booking. Would have been nice to know because some amenities that were offered were not available. Not in the best part of town either. Some very sketchy people roaming the streets....some pretty naked...not recommended if you have children.
Rooms: Not very clean, and we got a sweet.
Nearby activities: Lots of hookers and high homeless population.
Safety: Doesn't seem very safe.
Walkability: Gas station next door.
