The apartment itself is beautiful, and the maintenance person German was responsive (not sure if he still works there, I moved out July 2022); those two factors are what earned two stars here instead one. Beyond that, this place really cares not about tenants, nor former tenants. I received a call from a debt collector in late December about a bill of more than $1000 that has gone to collections from Magnolia on Zang due to move-out fees. I HAD RECEIVED ZERO NOTICE OF AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE. They claim it's from repairing drywall and replacing carpet. First issue here is... why did I pay a deposit if I'm going to be hit with a $1000 bill when I move out? This is a Google review from a random person so nobody is obligated to believe this but -- my wife and I, aside from being generally responsible, clean people, hired professional cleaners before we moved out. Additionally, we patched up holes from nails where we hung paintings and repainted and textured over them. Besides the fact that we feel these fees are unjustified, we are upset because I did not receive one inkling that we had remaining fees due until a DEBT COLLECTOR called me!! No attempt to contact me about this even once. Quite the contrary, I have attempted to contact them now four times since December. I have asked for an itemized receipt of the costs of repairs/ materials that warrant a $1000+ bill. The receptionist has taken my info down, assured me a manager (who she claims is "very on top of the ball") would get back to me. Nothing. Literally zero attempt to help mitigate the situation. This whole clusterbomb of a situation aside, I will give another anecdote about when I moved in that speaks to their blatant disregard for integrity. I toured the available apartment on the third floor. The manager at the time, Cruz, and I were walking and chatting about the apartment. I asked innocuously somewhere in there, "does the apartment have an elevator," to which he replied "yes" and then trickled off with his words and quickly moved on. I didn't twice about this because, why would I think someone would lie about something so silly? I just assumed we chose to take the stairs up at that time. So I signed the lease, and the minute we pulled up with our moving van, we scaled the building and immediately discovered there was no elevator. Ok, so I just assumed I had misheard Cruz and brushed it off and went on with life. Within the coming months, in speaking with SEVERAL OTHER TENANTS who were moving in, I discovered they were told the exact same thing; that the apartment had elevators. That's when I, and the other tenants I spoke with, knew these clowns lied because they knew some tenants would rethink a lease if they knew it did not have an elevator. I have not received such poor, unprofessional treatment from a property management group since I was an 18 year old living in the ghetto. If you have the money to move into Magnolia on Zang, don't. Go somewhere better.

This review pains me to write because we have zero complaints about the apartment itself. That being said, management absolutely ruined the experience. BE WARNED: management only wants your money and refuses to work with unless they get their money. For example, we moved in while we had another month left on our old lease. Magnolia management said thats fine, we can wait to receive your deposit until your finished paying with your old place. WRONG!! Pretty much the day after we signed the lease they were persistent on receiving our deposit payment and even charged us a late fee. Then we had to break our lease early because my partner and I had to move to NYC for work and We let management know 4 months in advance. While every apartment building Ive lived in has an early lease termination fee clause, Ive never actually had a single apartment management act on it (and Ive lived in 4 different major cities). No Magnolia management made us pay all $3k of the lease break fee AND to top it all off charged us and additional $150 from our security deposit for screw holes from mounting our TV (even though they provide a wall for a TV to be mounted) and they charged us for a stain on the carpet that was already there before we moved in (in spite of the fact that they are legally obligated to replace the carpet between each tenant). So move here only for the building and not for management. We hope your experience is different than ours.

Excellent location, low-traffic building, and staffed by wonderful people that actually care. This place is great! UPDATE: Shady billing practices upon move-out. They miscalculated my final payment (auto-pay), then adjusted it up 7 days later, did not process an auto payment for the adjustment, and then hit me with a late fee 3 days after that. This all happened with zero communication to me.

Lived here for over 2 years, one of the best experiences I had an apartment complex. Good location (right by streetcar stop), gated parking, and any maintenance issues were handled quickly and the maintenance staff was nice. Maintenance issues werent very common and I found my unit to be very quiet. I did have a package stolen once but other than that I had no issues here, and enjoyed the lack of extra fees tacked onto the rent.
