Riva's Shotokan Karate-Do

I've been studying under Riva Sensei for about 9 months, and I couldn't ask for a better teacher. She can be tough, but she is also patient, extremely knowledgable, and makes sure that everyone is learning, no matter their skill level. I highly recommend Riva's Shotokan Karate-Do to anyone interested in learning karate.

My children (9 and 7 year olds) really enjoy going to this dojo. The small class sizes allow for truly individualized instructions at each level. Riva-sensei cultivates an inclusive family environment for everyone and encourages each student to grow at their own pace. She is fun and friendly but expects respect, discipline and students 100% during her classes. We have seen tremendous growth not only in our childrens skills in karate but also in their confidence outside of the dojo!

Riva is great! She works hard to help her students improve. My son has fun learning karate, but also how to improve in small ways that add up. It's a great dojo, and I highly recommend it!

My 8 year old son has been attending Sensei Riva's dojo for a year. He has had an excellent experience. He has learned a lot and loves the classes. Sensei Riva provides a great structure for students to learn, work hard, and succeed.

Starting Karate in my 40s was something I never thought I'd do, but thanks to Riva, I have just earned my first belt. She is so knowledgeable; she is tough but understanding; and she truly cares about each and every student. I look forward to my class each week, because I always leave learning something new. I would recommend this Dojo without hesitation to anyone looking to study Shotokan Karate, but especially to adult women like me, looking for a place to empower themselves.
