I got profiled by Leila. She was watching me while I was shopping. At first I thought she was being nice when she asked if I needed help finding something and she did help me locate one product I was looking for. I was just trying to grab $50 worth of items to use a coupon expiring that day. They were out of stock of one of the items I needed and I had to find a substitute. At one point they made an announcement over the intercom for security to come up front and I wondered if it had to do with me since it felt like I was being watched and that she thought I was a thief. I know that I am not and thought nothing of it and continued to shop. At checkout I had a cold medicine purchase that required my license and as I was heading out to get my license from my car, Leila thought I was leaving and came after me and asked to look in my bag. I am black so I am used to being followed at times if I am shopping in a not so diverse area, but for someone who has shopped at Rite Aid for over 15 years and have great relationships with staff, I have never been stopped in this manner and made to feel as if I was a thief like Leila did. I take in the same bag with my coupons/keys/mini purse to any store I shop at and this is the first time this has happened. When the cashier refused to scan my earn $15 bonuscash when you spend $50 coupon, I asked for the order to be voided, took Leila's information and left without purchasing anything. It was interesting that when Leila came over to void the transaction, she implied that I did not have to wait to see the void, as they dont keep customer information. But why would I trust people that assumed that I am a thief. I could understand if they saw me take something, which I did not, but to follow me and then ask to look in my bag with no evidence of any wrongdoing was out of line. This store will never get my business again. Beware.
