Front desk staff and the maintenance team are fantastic! They always go out of their way for us and aways seem to be in good cheer

Staff at Astoria West are amazing. Everyone is very helpful, quick to offer help and also very friendly. The building is pet friendly and all common areas are kept clean by the diligent staff. 10/10 would recommend based the building staff. Apartments themselves are a little stuffy, with the central HVAC sometimes the air gets dry but is well cooled/heated throughout the year.

I have been living in this "luxury" building for a year and a half and am not happy with my experience. My partner and I live in the East building, and our hallway was completely empty for the first few months of living here as the building had opened a few months prior. In the past six months, the apartments in this part of the building have been filled primarily by affordable housing. Many people in the hallway smoke in their units, have loud altercations in their units and the hallway that can be heard from inside my apartment. The hallway reeks of smoke, people leave their shoes and other belongings in the middle of the hallway. The people in the apartment below us smoke in their unit and the smoke comes through the vent in our bathroom. All entrances to the building are absolutely covered in dog pee because apparently people can not be bothered to walk their dog five feet outside the door. We chose to move to a luxury building to avoid an environment like this, and as we are not in an affordable housing unit we are paying A LOT. The rooftop is pretty and used to be a nice place to relax and enjoy the view, but if the weather is warm there is now guaranteed to be a large group up there almost every night using grills they did not reserve and blasting music. People utterly flout the pool rules, which are not enforced at all, bringing large groups into the pool area when you are only supposed to be allowed two guests, with purchased guest passes. It costs 700 dollars per person to use it for the season(in addition to the regular 100 dollar monthly amenity fee) and I was competing for seats with people who don't even live here. Complaining to management is pointless, as the most they will do is send out emails that no one reads, or perhaps people do read them and just ignore them. This building's one redeeming quality is that the staff here is absolutely lovely-- the kindest, friendliest, most helpful people you could hope to meet. If you're looking to rent in a luxury building in this area, I would not recommend Astoria West.

Pros - looks luxurious, offers great amenities at an additional cost, easy move in, staff smile and greet you. Dont expect anything beyond that. Oh and very fast repairs when things breakdown. However, there are more cons than pros. Cons - there are some housing lottery tenants that have absolute no respect for others. Feels unsafe at times when walking down the hall to my own home in a luxury building. Extremely loud neighbors arguing and fighting. Some talking loudly in the halls. Floor smells like heavy weed. Pet owners dont pick up after their pets. Literally feces after every 4 steps outside and never a breath of fresh air. Pool area has people drinking in the pool as you pay $1200 for a season pass. I could go on but Ill save you the time and say live in LIC if you want a true luxury apartment. Management - ENFORCE lease agreements instead of sending multiple email to all tenants. Most likely will not renew my lease.

The building is nice + aesthetically pleasing and the staff are excellent. Location is great but just a little inaccessible. However, there are underlying issues particularly with the ownership / upper management that could make or break your experience here. For example we wanted to transfer to a bigger unit near the end of our lease; a simple request but they fumbled the bag and took days to process this even though we kept pushing and asking for active communication. Then they accepted an outside applicant over us even though we made the inquiry several days prior. And we kept getting excuses from their agents about how certain areas arent their responsibility / out of their control, which is understandable but an unacceptable response in my opinion. One of them even got short with me on the phone where it felt like I was inconveniencing him. Other tenants we speak to also complain about the ownership, in particular to how they understaff the building, charge hidden fees, are slow to respond, etc etc. I think some company called Cape Advisors or Corcoran or whatever run this building, so to them I would say do better.
