La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Jamestown

My boyfriend and I stayed there for the eclipse from April 7th into the morning of the 8th. I will start off by saying that the staff was friendly and the property as a whole and our room in particular was immaculate. There were a couple of hiccups however. The first was we arrived just before 4pm, having driven from Norwich, CT since 8:15 AM. Check in time was slotted for 3, our room wasn't ready. We couldn't get into the room until a little after 5. A minor inconvenience, so we didn't really sweat it. We left for dinner at 7 and when we came back there were no more spots in the parking lot. I asked at the front desk and the lady said my boyfriend was allowed to park in ths adjacent lot and there wouldn't be an issue. We got up the next day, had a nice breakfast and got in the car to find a $25 ticket. Now before I sound nitpicky, my boyfriend paid $443 for the night due to the demand. When I informed the staff of the situation they took it well, but I was disappointed that they didn't offer my boyfriend even a $25 compensation for giving us bad info. Again, if it was the normal rate of $85, I would've shrugged it off. Overall good stay, but they don't seem equipped to handle huge influxes of people.

Right in the center of town. Walked the dog , looked at old architecture. Other people going about their day. Walkability: Walking the dog. Comedy club a block over. Nice old architecture.
