Tried to charge me $20 to make a phone call from a pay phone. A call that wasnt even picked up on the other end

Never, Never use them. You have been warned. Arrived at Albany airport and found out I forgot my phone in my mom's car. Saw that the airport had payphones so why bother someone for their cell phone when I can make a quick call from these payphones right? OK, maybe they will charge me $2.00 a minute, but all I need to tell my mom is to Fedx the phone to my location in Albany. Simple. I was happy to see that the phone accepted credit card as well as quarters (Oh gosh I wish I used the quarters now!). Inserted my card in and dialed the number... First time disconnected.... Second time disconnected... Third time disconnected... Finally got connected on the fourth time. Now I was waiting for a voice to tell me what the charge will be right? Maybe show it on the screen?).... NO! Nothing, just got connected to my mom. So I Quickly spoke to my mom to send me the phone to my location (she already knew I forgot it). A couple of days later I see 4 bills in my account: $13.63 three times (I presume the three times I never got connected) $17.34 for when I actually spoke to my mom. Now, you will see WiMacTel respond to the complaint of not stating the charges based on not enough space on PayPhone to show all different possibilities. Wow! Thanks for stating the obvious. I don't care about every single charge in the world. I only care about to know how much you are going to charge me before you actually connect me. There is a big screen on the phone and an electronic voice could warn the user about the ridiculous charge I am about to be subjected to. Do you think anyone in their right mind would pay over $13.00 on a payphone when you can just ask anyone to use their cell phone quickly? I would rather offer $5.00 to someone to use their phone. This is not right. It is illegal. They cannot provide a service without indicating the cost. It is like taking a cab ride but the driver only tells you the charge at the end of the ride: "Hey sir! I took you to your destination 10 miles away didn't I? I provided you a service you needed, now give me U$1,000.00" Worse would be his excuse of not providing you with a cost since there is too many variables! That is ridiculous. How can they be allowed to continue to do business this way? And they are inside the airport, which make them seem legit and "friendly".

If I could I would rate a NEGATIVE 100-horrible horrible company that charged an etream amount of money for use of a public payphone. My husband got lost-stopped at a gas station to use a payphone because there is NO cell service (remote mountain town). It only allows you to use your debit card to make a call-to connect (leave a voicemail) it says other fees can apply on a sticker -THAT IT-those "fees" happen if you leave a message or the call "connects" at all (other caller answer) ... I did not answer so he had to leave a voicemail -a total of ONE min. phone call. our card got charged $19.98!!! YEP almost TWENTY dollars!!! They told me it notes "fees" can be added but NOT how much those fees are-NO ONE IN THEIR MIND would pay that horrible inflated price for a MINUTE phone call!!! disgusting and they did not even care when I called customer service-they kept telling me it is noted on the phone that fee's can apply....NOT how much that fee would be!!!
