U Centre on Turner feels like a cheap complex masquerading as a luxury one. The good things are that maintenance requests are fulfilled quickly, staff is often nice, and there are events once in a while, although not as many as there used to be. Also, the location. Thats how they get you to pay through the nose. Now, the bad. First, construction on siding and the pool w/o prior notice has gone on for well over half a year, occurring at times that seem to violate Columbia MO Sec. 16-265 even after police were notified, and theyre not listed as having an extended hours permit. This has involved workers yelling and loud banging, which wouldnt be so bad if the apartment complex wasnt what seems cheaply built. Also, why was the pool gutted in mid-2023? The complex only opened in fall 2017. Second, because it seems cheaply built, you can hear your roommates conversations and your neighbors parties loud and clear. Also, pipes burst in Dec 2022, and many rooms flooded. And try not to scratch the walls because the paint will come off like icing, and dont expect much hot water in the shower. Third, amenities, pricing, and rules seem to change all the time. Management seems to walk all over residents, but at least they send an apology once in a while. Best be reading every word in your lease agreement! Dont expect the amenities listed on the website to be the ones youre given, and dont be surprised if ownership changes hands and rent gets raised by a couple hundred w/o notice. Or when they decrease the utility allowance so you have to pay more. As if it isnt bad enough, theyll charge you $100 if your cheapo key breaks and slap a renewal application on your packages w/o your permission. Youre better off finding a cheaper place to live than paying $1000+ a month per person living with three roommates and dealing with this.

If you do one thing, do not live here. This place robs your money and uses it for unsolicited construction that will make your experience here a living hell. Save your money and go somewhere where they at least pretend to care about their residents.

Ucentre on Turner has the best amenities at just a short walk to anywhere on Mizzou's campus and downtown Columbia. The community assistants and management are super helpful and welcoming. They organize great events for their residents.

Honestly the worst apartment complex I have ever seen/lived in/heard of in my entire adult life. If you're looking for an expensive apartment, with plastic furniture that tears when you look at it (which you will be charged for), a frat house vibe and hallways that consistently smell of liquor and urine even after being cleaned, then this is the place for you! The price of this complex comes from its amenities, which are (I have to give them some credit here) halfway to being amazing. The gym is amazing and the game room is cool but a total waste of money and space as no one ever uses it more than one time. The pool, oh the pool, looks great in pictures but has only been half open since the building was built leaving an ugly black top and construction looking tile on the upper section. The grills are horribly maintained and have been disconnected from the gas lines for no apparent reason. And if you think you'll ever be able to print anything off using the single printer that they think is sufficient, think again as it will either need a replacement toner or paper every single time you need it, ask the office about it and they will not do anything about the printer and ask you to email them a copy of what you want printed and they will print it for you. This sounds nice but for the price of these 4 bedroom apartments (almost 4 grand, which is the price of a penthouse suite in Kansas City, you should probably be able to print off your own documents with the slightest bit of confidentiality. I would like to go back to the pool and comment on the employee that this establishment hires. My roommates and I were at the pool one afternoon a few weeks or so after moving in and we were the only ones there along with a couple friends and I jumped in the pool, the security guard at the time then got on his power pony and trotted onto the pool deck with dignity. He then proceeds to scream at me saying, "you can't jump in the pool!" and, "it says right there that that is prohibited!" As he aggressively gestures to the "no diving" signs. I would like to point out that I've been swimming since I was 6 years old and could safely dive into 3 foot water but I simply jumped in feet first and the guard obviously knows this as he keeps screaming about "no jumping" I'm confused as I listen to this tyrant blare his siren at me and respond with, "where does it say I can't jump in the pool?" And he keeps going on about the no diving signs, and so I just say, "okay I'm sorry, won't happen again." His response to my apology and forced confession of guilt was to then say, "better not, you'd crack your skull up and then I could use it to sip my pin coladas from." My friends and I are all just baffled at this point and don't say anything or do anything until he finally just walked out, probably think about how proud his mother would've been of his heroic actions. This guy was either fired or quit or something as I never saw him again so you don't have anything to fear, but it does speak to the effort the company went to when hiring they're employees, very little if anything. They're other employees consist of college students, most of which who live in the building, and these employees have left multiple of the 5 star reviews that are boosting this abysmal excuse for a home up to the rating it has. Anyway, THIS IS ONLY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS REVIEW: If you are looking for a place to live in Columbia, live ANYWHERE else. There were so many more things wrong with my experiences living here than I could ever even compress into a comprehensible review. My recommendation would be to live at The Lofts on Ninth (which I currently live at and have no complaints about regarding the building or the management), Brookside downtown (where my friends have lived and has been competent), or even TODD, which is right next door, has a nicer pool and amenities somehow. I'll repeat the only nice thing about the 2 different years I lived in this building, and that would be the gym, its very nice and clean, though I would credit that to the gym community.
