image I'll be leaving this bank as soon as I get my direct deposit changed. I've had hassle after hassle with them. It's like banking in 1997. If you need to do anything other than super basic banking, they will require that you go into a branch. They aren't set up to do anything online except super basic banking. And if a branch isn't convenient for you to get to, you are OUT. OF. LUCK.
Can't leave this bank soon enough.

image If I could give them a negative ZERO I would. This is the worst bank and customer service I have ever had to deal with.

image I have been a client of Berkshire Bank for 29 years.  As with many small banks, there has been mergers and acquisitions along the way.  My account was first opened with Mercantile Bank (awesome) then was purchased or merged with Commerce Bank (just okay) and then purchased or merged with Berkshire Bank (deplorable).I went on a vacation overseas and ended up being stuck out of the Country for a Month longer than expected due to COVID.  I called and emailed the branch manager David Ortega and Olivia Patterson (who I personally know due to frequent in-person weekly visits to the bank) to assist with a wire to make my Mortgage Payment timely.  They refused to assist.  Due to my extenuating personal crisis I escalated my request to Rocio Objio AVP of Berkshire Management Team.  He also refused to assist.  I further escalated my request to CEO Nitin Mhatre along with others on the Berkshire Bank management team and they didn't even bother to respond to my email or phone calls. While I understand bank policy on such matters, I chose to work with a small bank because of the personalized services one expects to receive.  I bank here because I enjoy working with small businesses.  I enjoy walking into a bank and having the manager or teller personally great me by name.  For me, Banking is a relationship.  I chose to deposit my funds in that bank not just for my benefit but for theirs too.  I realize that my deposits and savings are used by the bank to make personal and household loans to others at a profit - and I am totally fine with that.  I however am not fine being left high and dry without any personalized service with a bank and team that I have personally known for nearly thirty years.  To date, I have still not received an email or call from the Berkshire Bank Management Team in response to my requests and feelings on the matter.Upon my return, I had no choice but to close my safe deposit box and cancel all four of my accounts, the aggregate balance of which any banker who pays attention would notice. When I went in to personally close my accounts with the manager I have known for many years, I was not greeted with an apology or with any empathy or concern.  Merely, "oh, I guess management couldn't help you".  Seriously... What's wrong with them?????  No apology - just point a finger at someone else...  Shame on him.  Shame on them.  Why would anyone want to bank with a bank that cannot even assist with the simplest of banking requests?  They couldn't help a 30 year - personally known customer with a wire to make their mortgage payment timely in an amount that was less than $3000 to another bank - who's account could be easily verified with just one simple phone call - how absolutely ridiculous, inexcusable, lazy and just down-right stupid.  It's a wire - not rocket science !I think their behavior is outrageous and inexcusable.  Good bye Berkshire Bank!!  Good riddance.
