Update: Responding to the Community Manager's message, I have made enough calls to settle the issue and the call center representatives have tried their best in having the leadership team call me. To this date I have yet to hear from anyone in that level of management. It isn't something to reconcile with me at this point. It's a systemic issue that several patients have reported publicly as well. The ball is in your court. Original post: It is Medstar Urgent Care's policy (enforced and confirmed by the receptionist of the Hillside location, and Ms. T.S., Patient Experience Specialist of all the network's UC locations) to charge the highest copay printed on the insurance card when urgent care service is not specified. During my conversation with Ms. T.S. on Friday, 3/22/2024, she stated that it is not the staff's responsibility to verify the copay with the insurance company prior to service. My insurer's representative was, needless to say, shocked to hear of Medstar's insistence to charge a higher rate than what they are contracted to collect for my appointment scheduled 3/18/2024. After several attempts to reconcile the issue with leadership, I've elected to seek healthcare outside of the Medstar urgent care network until I receive feedback on the legality of that kind of billing practice.
