image I had an interesting experience with darlings. I started out by getting my car undercoated, they dropped it on the lift so had to fix it. I get it mistakes happen but its a super expensive service as is. They painted my toyota with ford paint so it ended up not matching. So toyota fixed it, I am grateful expenses were covered however very time consuming.

image I just wanna start by saying it's October, my car rental was in June, and I wanted to share how memorable my experience was. I think about how easy this was, actually, frequently.
I was TERRIFIED of renting a car. I'd never had to do it on my own, and I'd only done it once before. A family member was going through insurance battles because a car rental agency was going after them because a rock scratched the bumper (seriously).
But I saw the reviews and took a leap of faith with Darling. Their rates were so low, and everyone I talked to was SO friendly and helpful. I got a Ford Fiesta for about half of any other rental companies for a similar car.
They told me everything I needed to have before I came for pickup, and the only request was that I fill the car up before I return it. They promised I would only need to worry about mileage if I left New England. Easy peasy. Too easy peasy?
I Ubered my way over from the airport, though the app took me to a dealership location. They were horrified I walked to the rental, and asked me to call next time for a shuttle from the dealership. But I'd just recommend taking an extra moment to ensure Uber is routing your ride to the right spot since they also have multiple dealerships. It was only ~$20 and a short wait to get an Uber, which didn't even scratch the surface of my savings from the airport rentals.
The car itself was great! It was easy to get used to, and fit all my carry-on and backpack with space for another traveler or two had I not been alone. It ran really well, it was really clean, and I actually kinda bonded with it over my week. We went all over the place together!
The day of the return, I was nervous. I was remembering peoples' horror stories about rentals.
But I got there, and it was easy peasy!!! They didn't go out with a magnifying glass to find any new scratches or to weigh the dust it accumulated. They didn't charge me anything a month later for, I don't know, not waxing it before drop off. They just verified it was full, it was in one piece and roughly the same condition it left in, and took the keys. And that was all. Just like they promised.
They also told me they were available that day to take me to the airport, if I'd like it. I know that's not something I can say might happen, but I just wanted to call out that level of customer service and how exceptional it was. They packed me right up and took me to the airport, and I had the nicest chat the whole drive.
It turns out, I think, their rates are low cause they'll treat you like a person, not a cash cow. And they stuck to every promise they made me.
So, I just wanted to leave a review because it left such a wonderful impression. I definitely recommend at least calling them for a quote. I think they'll woo you, and you'll have a great time.
