    I have waited 8hours yesterday in waiting area since early morning 9am and have not been helped with my severe headache and dizziness. I went home feeling defeated. When I tried multiple times talk to the worker he replied with there are people with more severe problems I saw people coming and leaving after 2h while I have been there whole day left out. Great job Layola

    I was transferred to Loyola from St. James in Olympia Fields as they were the only hospital that St. James could find that had an ENT specialist and an open bed. Being wheeled in to the ER was a bit surreal and felt like I was starring in Bizarro World version of Cheers (everyone knew my name as I was being rolled into the ER). As soon as I was put into an ER room, the nurse came in and got me hooked back up to an IV and got me my next dose of antibiotics, steroids, and pain meds (I ended up getting the first two every 4 hours for the next 48 hours and pain meds as needed). The nurse was calming and so sweet as I asked if they had someone providing ashes and she called the chaplain for me. I am a little hazy on the order but intake lady and Dr. ENT came in after her. She was polite and helpful. Dr. ENT came in and I got to experience a camera down my nose (made COVID tests feel like child's play haha). He confirmed the half of the diagnosis that could be seen via camera and said he is admitting me - definitely for 24 hrs more likely a minimum of 2 days. They got me a bed within 3 hours of that - 5 hours total in the ER. The doctors and nurses over the next couple days were phenomenal - but I felt bad for my 2nd roommate as the nurse she had Thursday evening as he was a little rude and a bit distracted while providing her care.

    I received great care today from each nurse, doctor and technician. Im not a fan of the nature of emergency medicine where when people come in with serious needs, you get bumped down the list. If your life isnt in danger, manage your expectations and know that youre going to be at any ER you go to at least six hours .
