Overture Powers Ferry

I have been a resident for about a year and a half and have found living here as a very therapeutic experience. The residents are like family to me and embrace not only myself but my daughter too. I have been very blessed and continue to be pleased living here. The maintenance staff and office staff are the best.

UPDATED REVIEW: Overture Powers Ferry, you're welcome for the review, but I was late to change my rating. The very thing that was most important to my mother, the lifestyle activities, are no longer worth a five star review. Overture Powers Ferry has become average, at best. The quantity and quality of the activities is far less than they were earlier this year. It's starting to feel like a nursing home rather than a a 55+ active community. *** ORIGINAL POST: I recently had to help my mom relocate from her too-big house to an apartment. This was a BIG decision for her, and a difficult one too. She was convinced she needed to purchase a condo, but I worried that she would be too socially isolated. She visited all the 55+ communities in west Cobb County and many of the prospects were quite disappointing. However, when she visited Overture Powers Ferry, she was impressed enough to have me come check it out too. (Spoiler Alert: My mom moved in and nearly a year later she's still glad she made the move.) First, the location is great. It's close to two highways, but just far enough away that she doesn't deal with the traffic. The area is walkable (sidewalks) with plenty of restaurants nearby. And it's about a mile from the Battery where the Braves play. Second, the place gives my mom the social lifestyle she craves. My mom is an extrovert and she's incredibly active, so Bingo and Bridge aren't going to cut it. Overture Powers Ferry does offer Bingo and Bridge, but also wine tastings, visits to local restaurants, movie nights in and movie nights at the theater, yoga and exercise classes, cookouts, guest speakers and classes, etc. My mom's "social calendar" is booked solid and it's wonderful to see her this excited and happy. With any apartment, you can expect turnover in the front office but two people stand out and have been instrumental in my mom's decision to move in and how happy she is with the community still. Sen Johnson is the leasing agent who not only helped her through the initial leasing process when the online system was acting up, but continues to offer above-and-beyond customer service that makes her feel like a valued resident. Christina Fulp manages the lifestyle activities and that full social calendar that really makes this location stand out above the average 55+ community. If you or a parent are considering a 55+ active community, this place is a good choice.

We moved into this complex one week ago. Our experience, starting with the first meeting with Sean Johnson to moving in, has been truly outstanding. The entire staff has been most helpful. They have welcomed us every step of the way, making our transition easy. Seans demeanor and care for the needs of the residents is truly commendable. If it were not for him, wed still be searching for an apartment. We are looking forward to a nice stay here. Prafulla Pande
