Love this area and the river has a lasting peaceful impression. Crossing the river has a unique little area on its other bank that would make a nice camping site.

Beautiful area, especially if you are able to continue up to the 4x4 trailhead. Be moose aware, had one in our campsite!

Wouldnt suggest crossing it as its the original from 1895. Also it is used by the Denver and Rio Grande Historical Society.

We were pleased we could camp at the trailhead. The hike to San Luis peak was wonderful but hard. The drive to the trailhead was also hard/long.
