image Please read this if you are considering working with 3R Insurance.
In March of last year I moved an existing Nationwide homeowners, auto and umbrella policy over to 3R as I wanted to work with an agent more local to me. I worked with Colette on this transfer. Everything was fine until it wasnt.
On 8.17.23 I received an email Colette stating that my auto renewal, set to renew 9.22, came through. In Sept also received a separate email from 3R stating my policy docs were ready (with instructions on where to view auto cards), similar to an email I received from Nationwide. This was the only communication I received about the renewal. As it was an existing policy set on auto renew, with no changes nor any changes to my bank accounts, I had no concerns anything was amiss.
Flash forward to Dec 23 my husband cant renew his tags online because of no proof of insurance. Of course we are insured I tell him. I then log into Nationwide and find out our auto policy has lapsed. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??? A call to the owner Andy proves we in fact are not insured and havent been since Sept 22nd. What about the emails you sent us stating our policy was set to auto renew? Get this, Andy replies that he doesnt have time to remind his customers to pay their bills. Beyond being insulting, it simply wasnt true. There was no bill, this was on auto renew as it had been for 2 years. He claims Nationwide would have called/emailed/mailed us about the late payment however THERE WAS NO SUCH COMMUNICATION.
I never received a single text/call/email NOTHING from Nationwide nor 3R stating an issue with payment. Andy then sent me an email with a spreadsheet claiming an email and letter were sent, to which I wish was true trust me but it simply didnt happen and I have all the receipts to prove it. After talking with other Nationwide agents, I believe that what happened is 3R was deemed responsible for all direct communications with me based on the way they setup my policy. Agents can intercept communication so that for instance when you call in, you are routed back to work directly with the agency. The fact of the matter is I didnt get any of these alleged communications. If I did, I would have gladly remedied any issues to avoid being delinquent and driving illegally.
Beyond the fact that because of this we inadvertently became delinquent and now uninsurable under Nationwide, this 4 months without coverage put me and my family in an extremely vulnerable position. Imagine the nightmare if something happened to us, or others. Sometimes I cant sleep at night thinking about the liability of unknowingly being uninsured and what could have gone wrong.
A customer should be able to trust that their licensed insurance professionals have their best interest in protecting a customer as well as the integrity of their policies. After this experience, I fear I can never fully trust a professional to do their job as promised. I share this story so others can be warned to protect themselves and check that the vendors they work with are fulfilling their commitments. No one deserves to unknowingly be put at risk like this.

Hi Katie,First and foremost, we want to extend our deepest apologies for the distress and inconvenience you've experienced. Your feedback is crucial in helping us improve and ensure such situations are handled more effectively in the future.Upon reviewing your case, we acknowledge the timeline of events leading to the lapse in your policy. Our records indicate a paperless bill was issued on 8/29/2023, a late fee processed on 9/25/2023 alongside a warning notice sent the same day, it seems there was a breakdown in communication. Your policy was unfortunately canceled for non-payment on 10/10/2023.It's important to clarify that when your policy was transferred to our agency on 3/14/2023, we maintained the same billing procedure to ensure continuity. We understand the confusion that may arise from auto-renewal processes and are taking steps to enhance our notification systems to provide clearer, more timely communication regarding policy changes and payment requirements. We are committed to learning from this incident and are actively reviewing our internal processes to prevent a recurrence. Your trust as a customer is invaluable to us, and we are dedicated to restoring that trust by addressing your concerns comprehensively. To rectify this situation and discuss a possible resolution, we invite you to contact us directly. We are here to support you and ensure your coverage meets your needs without further disruptions.Sincerely,The 3R Insurance Team
