Irvine Hebrew Day School has nurtured my children's lives. The teaching staff is incredible and the school has been able to offer any important and necessary support that my children may have needed over the years. The teachers have successfully differentiated learning at times when my children needed it. The school has given my children a sense of self and achievement socially, emotionally and academically. Thank you, IHDS!

We are so happy we chose IHDS Kindergarten for our daughter. She loves going to school every day. In a few months, she has made tremendous progress, in academics, in her religious knowledge and in her social/emotional development. The low student to teacher ratio allows the teacher to adjust to each child's level and to let them progress at their own pace. No one-size-fits-all in this school!

Irvine Hebrew Day School (IHDS) has proven to be a top-notch school that has enabled my son to thrive in his secular academic studies, his Jewish studies, and in his social and emotional development.  You really can't ask for a better learning environment for your child.  The staff are also amazing and are always available to answer your questions, provide feedback, and even share with you stories of nice things your child did during the day that would make you happy to hear about.  We feel so blessed to be part of this welcoming and diverse community and look forward to seeing IHDS grow!

This is my dream school. My child comes home from school happy, full of life, and interested in the world. We have dynamic conversations where he regularly makes incredible connections between his learning and the real world. Irvine Hebrew Day School brings together all of the best practices of research-based education, including: depth and breadth in academic knowledge, a safe space and allowance for social emotional growth, teachers who value the work of play, students learning contextually and in a meaningful way, independent and critical thinking, small class sizes, child-led learning, no homework (!), positive discipline without rewards or punishments (parenting classes to coincide!), and mutual respect between teachers and students, in addition to the warmth, love, and enthusiasm felt by every child, parent, and teacher alike, creating a shared belief that every problem can be solved. As a teacher myself, I have developed my own philosophy of education, but I didn't believe it existed in any one facility. Irvine Hebrew Day School is the only school I've witnessed that can bring all of these values together under one roof. Every staff member walks the talk. They actually do what they (and I) believe is the best way to nurture a well-rounded human being. We first tried free and convenient public schooling and ran into issues with fear-based discipline and an overall ignorance of how to be inclusive of kids who don't celebrate Xmas and Easter. In that system, our child was successful academically and behaviorally in school, however he had daily meltdowns when we picked him up from school and during homework time. This was common with other families we knew so we didn't expect that to change (it was a wonderful surprise to see my child happy again). It was important for us to find a school where my child could be a Jew and not feel like an outsider. My husband and I considered everything from Waldorf to TVT before we discovered Irvine Hebrew Day School. We searched outside the box and found a school that is out of this world!
