The Management MADE The brilliant decision to open at 8 am on weekends. I have to be at work by 8 am Sat. and at Mass at 9 am Sunday. I like to workout EVERYDAY I had to drive 6 exits down the freeway to go to another gym in CMR. This is NOT Convenient.

I came here for the duration of a few months and man does this place have potential. Good location, friendly staff and decent equipment. However other members are the downfall of this gym. Actually, not members but a member specifically, who is blatantly abusing the laid back nature of the gym. He comes into the gym between 8:30am-10:00am and choses one machine to sit on and basically hogs it for a 2-2.5 hour period. He doesnt let anyone on the machine and he often will sit idle on his phone for 20-25mins at a time then do another set.The machines he sits are are some of the most popular machines in the entire gym. The machines like lat pulldown and biceps. The whole situation is absolutely ridiculous, he has no respect for others. People could have worked in and used the machine during the time he was just sitting on his phone. He literally is playing games on his phone. I politely asked to use the machine and he just looked at me and said he was in the middle of something then went back to his phone like I didnt exist. Never have I seen this level of rudeness from a person in a gym setting before like wow its unreal the level of arrogance being displayed. Total disrespect on so many levels and I'm surely not the only one upset by this machine hogging. It was to the point where I did my whole workout and then came back to the one machine after cardio and he is still on the same machine. It had already been 1 hour and 50 mins, are you kidding me? I had to head to work as my time is not infinite. What is wild is he knows I am waiting also so he is outright ignoring me, it is so peculiar. When I cant use a single machine over 1.5-2 hour duration that's a problem. I was shocked by this and its sad because the gym is having a hard time with staff as I see the same few faces and know that it takes a few more than that to run that kind of gym. He is taking advantage of the lower staffing at the gym and making his own rules, crazy. It is sad because all the staff are extremely polite and always doing the best they can for the gym. Myself and all the other members pay the same amount of membership fee to use the machines and gym facilities. Hopefully the GM can see this and fix the issue. The level of potential here is huge, definitely needs addressing so this issue won't linger on.

I love coming to this gym. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They have plenty of workout equipment and weights so I am able to get in a good workout every time I go.

Edited 1/2/2024: The staff is always friendly. My review is not indicative of any team members, rather terrible facilities management. Most mornings, the entire gym smells like sewer and the person opening the gym has to leave the doors open to vent the smell. Many of the machines are labeled out of use and need repair for weeks on end. At one point in time, there were only 2 useable sinks in the mens locker room. Hand dryers are constantly broken and no paper towels are provided in the interim. These conditions have persisted for YEARS. Not weeks or months. YEARS. Other members are disgusted by it, have made many mentions of it and are considering finally throwing in the towel and going to other gyms where facilities are cleaner and managed better. I hope that someone reads this and does something about it. As long time members, we deserve better.
The response given by 24 hour to this honest review is both typical and expected. However, it is nothing more than lip service. They have had decades of opportunities to improve these facilities and they are only left neglected to become more abhorrent than the previous year. My challenge to management: put your money where your mouth is. Let's see this place undergo some meaningful cleaning and improvements. The black mold in the showers is unacceptable, the simple lack of toilet paper at business opening is nonsensical, and the consistently broken sinks and hand dryers is plain unsanitary. Let's see some actual construction and constructive progress. Until then, this review just got downgraded to 1 star. Happy 2024 - here's to 24 doing more for their members at Miramar.
