What it lacks in amenities (and it is a bit lacking) it makes up for in charm. Also, their were a bunch of whack jobs doing a ghost hunt in the building when i was there. And i love that.

I spent the night here with my two kids due to the stories of the building being haunted. Let me start with the basics. The hotel itself has a small lobby. The front desk is directly forward from the entrance. The elevators are to the right of the desk. There is a bar/restaurant [more like a pub] connected directly to the lobby through double glass doors. Looking for ghosts? The room we stayed at is room 710. Is it haunted? Absolutely. Will you be able to experience anything? Probably not. This is due to the fact that most people are not particularly sensitive to the paranormal. To most, they may never experience anything at all. However, if you are, you are more likely to experience anything, however big or small. I'd like to note that it is very difficult to find the parking as there is no dedicated area for the hotel itself. There is a garage directly behind the hotel that is $15 a night I believe. Getting to the garage is another story as there are a series of one-way streets. Unless you're good at puzzles, you may get frustrated trying to get to it. The hotel also has no area to just stop. So ordering food through any delivery companies may have some issue. We've had a driver not come with our pizza because he couldn't find any place to park his car. Rooms: The rooms themselves, there's no microwave or mini fridge. So, if you do decide to bring food and want to have left-overs, you'll have to consider stay somewhere else. The bathrooms are VERY old Hollywood. One faucet for cold water and another faucet for hot water all for one sink. It's not a hotel for luxury but for the unique experience. Food & drinks: As far as customer service, the food that we ordered through door dash didn't give us any utensils so we asked if the front desk had any plastic spoons or forks. They redirected us to the pub next to the lobby. We were able to get some from there as the hotel itself does not serve any breakfast or other meals.

Walked by Hotel San Carlos today and saw them ordering homeless people who live in front of a vacant storefront down the street to leave or they'd call the police. When I asked why they got belligerent. Disgusting behavior. I've stayed here. This is in my neighborhood. I will literally never stay again. If you're looking for a place without homeless people, don't stay in the downtown of one of the biggest cities in America.

Beautiful historic hotel very close to the Footprint Center. CHELSEA was so AMAZING. I am legally blind but she treated me like royalty . Highly recommended!
